Bidrage med feedbackThis was one of the worst meals I ever had. The food was not appetizing. The service was pretentious and robotic. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $100+ Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 1
What a magical dinner! Everything was incredible, the service, food, and atmosphere. Be prepared to be there for a while but it is totally worth it. It's hard to believe that all of the meals were diary free and pescatarian. They were super accommodating with my current dietary restrictions because I am pregnant. Another really special part was the non alcoholic drink pairing I had since I was unable to drink wine. I highly recommend trying this if you do not drink!
I consider myself a foodie. But after this experience I 've questioned that. Cuz if foodies love this place, then I don 't understand. During the meal, I asked myself if Chef asked me, what do you honestly think of the meal? , I 'd have to reply, Every dish was unique, stimulated my palette, but failed to inspire an emotional response there was no 'Wow ' . The dishes often ran together, they were repetitive in their preparation theme and taste though I acknowledge the Bay Area theme. The service was polite. However, each dish was accompanied by an explanation that lacked passion consistent with how I felt about the meal. The ambiance was nothing special though hard to hear. But that 's okay for me as I care about the food and service most. Unfortunately, I won 't recommend this restaurant to my friends.
Good food but not spectacular. Good wines. Good service. Nice atmosphere but very noisy. I could barely hear the explanation of the dishes Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3
Have really mixed feeling about my experience here. This has been at the top of my list for years to try, and had been eagerly waiting to dine here after making a reservation months in advance. I sadly don't think this lived up to the 3 Michelin star rating a good meal still, but not one that I would say was worth going out of our way for and spending so much on. I been to multiple 3 stars globally and this was one of the weakest I've been to unfortunately. Chef Crenn doesn't write a nightly poem anymore and now the menu is Californian instead of French which unfortunately didn't really work. Part of the issue and discrepancy may have to do with the menu change while I'm actually pescetarian so this should have been perfect, we were told right after being seated the menu is also now dairy free. I don't think they've nailed dairy free cooking yet and despite being someone who regularly enjoys eating vegan, I missed it here. Service/ambiance weirdly loud, think they need to figure out some sort of soundproofing. Hard hear other people even at the table and the service staff needs to speak up. It was incredibly difficult to hear half the dishes being presented and it felt like the presentations were being mumbled through not a ton of passion or detail included, which feels like a miss for a meal of this caliber. Moreover they refilled my dining partner's glass incorrectly not once, but twice. We both had tap water, but someone filled his glass with sparkling water on accident creating a strange tasting mixture. We asked for a new glass the first time and got a replacement, but then had the same issue happen in the meal AGAIN. We couldn't really believe it this seems like a gaffe for a 3 star; nbd the first time but to replicate the error with no acknowledgement is weird Food There were a fair share that were good and tasty, but nothing that blew my mind or found that interesting. The toughest thing was there were dishes that were actively off putting and felt like a miss. The cherry bomb was weirdly mealy and not that flavorful. The crab ice cream could have been good, but was icy and seemed to have a freezer burn consistency. The fermented leek tart was unpleasantly hard and difficult to chew (the filling also had an off taste to it; I didn't want a full tart 2 bites was enough). The Korean melon was acrid and had a terribly bitter after taste, and the corn empanadas were neither savory nor sweet, and the wrapping totally overpowered the inside filling made stranger by some crunchy puff additions. This menu was a miss for a 3 star I don't think I've ever been to a 2 or 3 star where I've actively disliked so many dishes. Something was not right here the night we dined Highlight for me was the crab cracker and dashi a really delicious bite. Amazing flavor on both that was simultaneously umami and fresh. I had really high hopes for this place esp helmed by one of the few female 3 star chefs! But sadly it didn't live up to it at all too many issues to work out. I'm saddened by the fact that while I'm sure there was immense care and effort put into the meal, it just was not that good. I wish I had better things to say. I wouldn't dine here again unless they significantly overhaul the menu. I'd recommend spending your hard earned money instead at Lazy Bear or Benu
