We frequently visit RR for their delicious burgers, great atmosphere, impressive view of the River, and to see Dave Penny. They have the best burger sandwiches in our area and serve the coldest beer around. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and attentive to all customers. The parking lot is always full at lunchtime, showing the popularity of their food among the working crowd. It's best to arrive early, call ahead, or get takeout to save a seat. The River Rock is a two-person operation that has been serving our community for many years. We would be disappointed to lose this comfort place with great people and outstanding short-order food. We only give it 4 stars because they close early, sometimes unexpectedly, but it's worth visiting them. Parking is convenient, service is excellent, and the atmosphere is top-notch. Recommended dishes include the Cheese Dog, Cheeseburger, Hot Dog, and Italian Sub. Free parking is available.

We come to RR often for the burgers, atmosphere, their view of the River, and to check on Dave Penny ...They have the best burgers sandwiches in our end of the County beyond...and the COLDEST beer anywhere! They greet the patrons, know most, and attend to all! If you ride by at lunchtime, you 'll see a crowded parking lot as testimony to their food service to the working guys gals of the area! Go early, call ahead, or take out so others can have a seat! They do the lunch crowd but shut the grill when the crowd leaves. A 2-person operation that has served our end of Roa County for many years; we dread any thoughts of not having The River Rock as a go to, comfort place, combing great ppl outstanding short order the way it should be done! 4-star only b/c they don 't stay open later (selfish on us), they sometimes are shut when they (apparently) go to a UVA Football Games, or just decide to not be there b/c they can ! Go see 'em!!!!

This restaurant has the best food in town! The onion rings and bacon cheeseburger were fantastic. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was great. I would highly recommend it for a lunch meal. Food, service, and atmosphere all receive a rating of 5 out of 5.

The food and service might be great however, this is very important for out of town visitors and first timers: the River Rock Restaurant is only open between 11 AM and 2:30 PM. M-F.
