Bidrage med feedbackWith a distance the best culinary experience in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer! the food was fresh and absolutely delicious, from preparation to presentation. we recommend it very much.
In the middle of the wetland and surrounded by white and black swans with a view on the grazing Camargue horses, this restaurant worth the trip. The tables are scattered on a very large terrace next to the swimming pool and the water surrounding the...restaurant. The menu for the lunch is focusing on local products which is good to take advantage to taste, as we usually do, when we are in a different and exceptional place. Tapas and Bull carpaccio and to follow a huge steak of beef which was absolutely delicious, steamed peace of wild salmon and lobster spaghettis. Dessert: sublime tarte Tatin with crème fraiche and vanilla ice cream.
People complaining about this place don't know how to eat, period. The food was really excellent. The deserts are Worth the trip alone. It could (should) definitly get a michelin star. I guess it comes more down a political reason small wine choice than...on the food.
We were a group of had had many phone calls to reserve and then found ourselves seated at a conference table wide, impossible to talk to person across. This was sorted after much arguing which spoiled the mood. The food was ok but...very very overpriced. I find it indecent to charge € for a plate of pasta for a child. The adults had unimaginative dishes, sprouts of asparagus for and an over cooked monk fish for Sorry, other than the pretty environment and polite staff nothing speaks for this restaurant.
Expensive, with an equally expensive wine list but so worth it. Such a shame that the exterior dining area is just deck over looking the pond with unattractive and inefficient mosquito grills forming a short of cage. Also the tables and chairs were not chic but rather basic, like you might find in a school or canteen and this distracted from the experience of fine dining. The food was excellent and updated French classic such as a foie gras brûlée on a plate of wonderful foie gras served three different ways. My risotto of camargue rice was one of the best I've eaten. The pudding was competent but it was obvious this is not a pastiierie chef. Lunch was also very good, light and fresh.
