La Coursejade

I must admit, we only ate here first because we stayed at the hotel the restaurant belongs to and didn't want to venture out on our first night. We ended up eating here each night of our four night stay.It turned into a curious ritual. The menu is very limited, each night you can choose between two appetizers, two mains, and two desserts. Each time we read the menu we were kind of underwhelmed so we reluctantly ordered one of each for the two of us and shared. Almost everything we got ended up to be outstanding, and I am a well-seasoned foodie. I wish I had a place like this in Boston...Their fish dishes in particular were excellent. But the highlight was the pea soup with grilled scallops. I had no idea what an explosion of flavors pea soup can be! Arguably one of the best dishes I have ever tried. We also loved their bread. Service was excellent and attentive but not intrusive. Weather was great for most days so we were able to eat on their nice patio. Beware that the Camargue is a breeding ground for mosquitoes, and even though they run mosquito magnets, if you dine after nine o'clock you will want to wear long-sleeved clothes and/or put insect repellent on. The wine list is okay. I recommend the half liter bottle of rose they have on the menu, seemed best price-value ratio. Cocktails are fairly standard and overpriced. The meal will set you back quite a few bucks but compared to what I'd have to pay in Boston it wasn't outrageous and we felt we easily got our money's worth in terms of superb quality.

Although there is limited choice on the menu, the dishes are original and the menu changes on a daily basis. Also good for a lunch with some BBQ and burgers and salades.

The dishes are all very good, with creative tastes but very well balanced and innovative. The service is kind, friendly and attentive.

2 years in a row I came back to the hotel and loved the food at the restaurant. Fine dining with dishes which are worked to an art form. Good selection of wines and great deserts too in a little paradise of a terrace.

In most countries, I wouldn't consider dining at a hotel unless the city was under siege. But this is France, we are in a lovely country hotel, and there is obviously great care all around. While the choices are limited (two of everything), each dish was prepared with great skill and artistry, the ingredients are first rate, and the service is attentive and congenial.The dining room is atmospheric, reflecting love and respect for the Camargue, appropriately informal and homey. We are glad we are staying at this fine hotel and pleased to know the restaurant is as good as we had hoped for.The prices are entirely reasonable for the high standards of quality.
