Located on a very nice little plaza in the village, La Flambée offers a rather wide range of french specialties, from the obligatory ( due to the region ) Cheese Fondue, the classic bistro salads, burgers and tartare to the Brittany-style crepes. Anyone can find something to eat.The food is good, nothing amazing, but good. The staff is lovely, or should I say to us. As I heard from other people that they were received very badly... I guess it can happen.Inside the restaurant is really nice, with a very 'Chalet' look to it. In the summer you can enjoy you dinner out on the patio.A very nice plus is that you can borrow some Petanque Balls to play on the plaza while having a drink. I went for a very nice handcut beef tartare, prepared in front of you. The crepes were nice, though very classic. Didn't try the fondue this time. Too hot in the summer. They have some nice liquors from the region. Try the Chartreuse, or the Violette!
We visited La Flambee recently with a group of friends who had just arrived in the village. It was a cold summer night and we all thought that a crepe would be good. The restaurant was quite busy and we managed to get a table. We all chose a crepe with different fillings. They were served hot and pretty fast, The crepes was very thin and dry, the content was tasty but the filling was not much and average compare to what I remembered from our last visit a couple of years back. some disappointment especially that we had a great crepe experience in Chambery at Guliver's (see my write-up) where its worth stopping by.Maybe that's a one off but a disappointing one, especially when taking friends visiting the valley for the first time!
