Au Mas - Saint-Laurent-de-la-Salanque

It is difficult to find a good restaurant in this area. But due to good notes we stopped here for lunch. The waitress half French half Dutch was very friendly but she was not allowed to take orders. The French waitress who might do this was extremely unfriendly aparantly she did not enjoy het work. We ordered moules aioli a well known starter in this area and as main the tournedos with foie gras. The. Moules were not exiting but they seemed burnt but it was just ok. The waitress put back my knife and fork back on the table when she came to clear the table for the main. Strange that you have to use a knife with garlic to cut your tournedos.... the main came and the tournedos was drowned in the sauce. The French fries, the only extra with the dish of € 28, , were boiled instemde of fried the oil aparantly was so cold that they were swampy. The worst we ever have been served. The foie gras was baked om a fire that was too high and the outside tasted bitter. Look at the pictures for the result. The bill of € 81, was a pity aswell we better had spent somewhere else.

Good food, not expensive. Lovely courtyard. Lunchtime menu very reasonable. Busy all year round. Pleasant staff too!

Can't say this restaurant had much atmosphere, lighting neither bright nor dim, two large televisions showing pop videos but it was only a minute away from our holiday rental. However, the staff were welcoming and the service was good. The mojito cocktail was delicious as were the alcoholic desserts (particularly the apricot one). My husband had a starter the most enormous salad ever! He couldn't get through it as he wanted to enjoy his main! I had a tuna steak again, enormous! Couldn't finish it. The chips were freshly made and there were plenty of them! It is a popular restaurant and I expect that in Summer it is lovely in the outside courtyard.

The food is fine, but they don't let you have your aperitif, and the first course arrives even if you have a la carte...

We have eaten at this restaurant many times when in the area. Never been disappointed with the food, atmosphere and service. Ideal in all weathers outside area when weather permits, usually from March to October, and inside eating area when weather does not permit. We have dined as a couple, as a family and with friends.
