L'Avalanche - Saint-Jean-d'Aulps

Out of the 3 restaurants in the village this was the most friendly and the most cosy too.We tried to dine here a couple of times but kept finding it closed but we were lucky to get a table on our 3rd attempt.The guy behind the bar - we assume was the owner - was so friendly and polite, he couldn't do enough for us. It was clean and comfortable and the food was tasty.We enjoyed the desserts especially as there seemed to be a better selection than anywhere else we had visited that week.

We were the only ones there but the owner and his wife were very friendly and helpful and we never felt that he wanted us to go

We went here on one of our first night at La Grande Terche, it has a new owner and he was telling us his wife had been doing cooking but now kids are back at school they had a new chef. I have to say, you could tell, it took over an hour to get food out to four very hungry and tired children.When the food came some was a bit warm some hot, they have some issues to iron out.On the positive, the owner was happy to recommend nice wines and promised to refund the bottle if we didn't like it, he was very attentive and trying really hard with us so I struggle to give him a terrible review as the food when it came was actually nice.They need to get the food delivery sorted but all in all not a bad place, he also didn't charge us for a few things so the meal was pretty good value.

Really enjoyed our visit, been to St-Jean many times for skiing and never eaten here before. Great atmosphere, and good food, I hope the current owners keep the restaurant going and we will definitely be going to next year. If there was a little more choice on the menu for main meals I would give the review 5 stars.

Fist time visits in this town and decided to stop by for a drink.Beer was great, friendly staff behind the bar who were happy to try and interact with my extremely limited French...hahaWe decided to order food, it looked to be mostly burgers but that was okay.It arrived, looked great and tasted fantastic.Would recommend for sure as the others just don't have the same atmosphere :-)
