This is essentially a pub restaurant,simple food,very cheap, we came here several times,during our visit and each time the wait became longer! Our last visit,it took a good hour to take our order,it came pretty quickly and no complaints about quality or quantity, but we...all decided that we fancied a dessert and we waited and waited,until after another hour,we gave up! Our son in law said he would get the bill,he arrived back at the house(100 metres away) 45 minutes later, really? Our booking was for 7.00 pm, he walked in at 11.30! Not good when we're leaving at 6.00 am next morning and still had to pack! It is a very busy restaurant,mainly because the only other restaurant is a creperie! Not good enough,take on some more staff or lose business!
I followed the menu gourmand 3 good courses for 25 euros, husband had paella. All washed down by a local rose...I was expecting 3 smallish dishes but they were more than ample....very good value for Provence even England. There was a mountain of...fish in the paella, husband said he had never seen so much in one dish. Our girls had fries and even they were shaped beautifully presented in a fish shape dish....yummy...
Arriving in the area at a weekend out of season, we thought it advisable to book somewhere in advance for dinner on Saturday night. This seemed to be one of the few places in St Jacut that was actually open. There were 4 of us,...hungry after a long day 's travelling and looking forward to an enjoyable dinner. It wasn 't bad but overall it was disappointing and we all agreed that we wouldn 't be returning. For me the main issue was the attitude of the woman who took our order. I ordered fish soup, always a favourite of mine when In France and when it was served, instead of the usual array of 3 garnishes (croutons, grated emmenthal and rouille sauce) I only received the first 2 and those were served in tiny portions. I asked the waitress (or she might have been the proprietor, we didn 't know) for some rouille sauce and she rather brusquely replied J 'ai pas. No apology was offered. Fair enough, I thought. Not good planning on the part of the restaurant, running out of an ingredient which I assume they buy in rather than make, but I can live without it this once. A short while later 2 French women sat at the next table to us and they obviously knew the waitress. One of them ordered the fish soup and to my surprise and, irritation, I noticed that when hers was served, she was given the rouille sauce. This might seem a very minor point but to me it illustrated the attitude of the woman staff member and it didn 't show them in a good light. Telling one customer they don 't have an important ingredient for a popular dish and, basically, lying about it, was very poor in my view. The fish soup was obviously out of a carton too so it wasn 't a great starter. I certainly wasn 't impressed by La Goelette and we all agreed that we wouldn 't go back there.
A welcome first and foremost mixed by the patron saint see "Don't bother the nerves" which ended with a warm and family service. A classic restoration, fried mussels nice apart from fries, no home damage...Do not look for an exceptional restoration, but an atmosphere with a bossy character but warm. a booking advice to have a table
