Akbar's Own Indian Restaurant

Walked here from west Broadway with my 7 year old granddaughter for a dinner date. Some of the best Indian food in the city. Atmosphere was warm and inviting as was the service. Don’t be deterred by the mess of construction from the skytrain just outside. We took arbutus to 8th and then right onto maple then left on the sidewalk in front of the wawanesa that leads to the restaurant. Will most definitely be back.

Everything about this restaurant is great. Food, ambience, friendly and helpful service. I was cold and they raised the temperature. And it's quiet enough so you can have a conversation and not have to shout. You will love it. Thank you Akbar's Own. Not even subway construction can keep us away.

My go-to for Indian food in Vancouver, and I've tried a lot! The most wonderful methi lamb curry and pillowy flavourful naan. Consistently delicious, generous portions. We order from Akbar's at least once a month and not once had a reason to complain.

You have to try this gem! They are hanging in with the massive roadworks outside and really need custom..their takeaway is well known but do yourself a favour and try their superb food.. look at the size of the paneer sizzler!
