Pros of most recent visit: We were seated quickly. Cons of recent visit: Coffee machine had broken down Sausages were hot and cooked to perfection Plenty of milk and cereal Plenty of fruit juice (at time of going to get hot food) No bacon No eggs No hash browns No white bread No pancakes No croissants No mushrooms Cook didn't start cooking more bacon until someone asked if there would be more bacon Fried eggs were not fried rather, they were shunted en masse into the oven I'll state right now it isn't always like this. The fried eggs are usually fried, and there's normally plenty of everything so I would presume that yesterday was the worst of the many bad days this particular Beefeater has. Normally the worst that can be said is that the cook can't do poached eggs and they don't have enough sauces. We went for breakfast, which the food was awful. The scrambled egg was like a solid piece of rubber, sausages, bacon, beans were all cold. Hash browns were also cold and rubbery. Service was shocking, 3 staff walking around doing nothing, 1 chef we spoke to didn't speak to us, and they all looked miserable. We will never return for another meal here, it was a complete waste of money. This was possibly the worst food I’ve eaten in a restaurant. Despite it being around twice the price of Wetherspoons, it was not nearly as good as Saffron Walden ‘spoons. The steak was bland and chewy, the prawns tasted of nothing and the calamari did not look like it had been prepared correctly. My partner said his chicken tasted as if it had been pumped full of water. We left a fair amount of our food, as it was inedible. It’s unlike both of us to leave food. The only saving grace is that the cocktails were tasty and cheap and the service was excellent. It’s a shame that the food was so atrocious. I went a few times for cooked breakfast. Very nice and good quality ingredients and food. Good variety and choices for breakfast plus warm drink and all for 9.99£. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
