Little Lion Cafe - S San Diego

I was excited to try this spot based on all the amazing reviews. However, it was a shocking disappointment. I waited to be seated and no one greeted or acknowledged me for several minutes even though there were many tables open and it wasn’t very busy. I finally approached a woman who said I could sit wherever I wanted. Waited ~15 min to be greeted at table as well. For the price point, I was shocked at the food. I ordered quite a bit shakshuka, fruit bowl, side of bacon and tumeric latte. The shakshuka was pretty but not a shakshuka, just some eggs with diced tomatoes and red peppers. The fruit bowl had a hair, a moldy grape and leaves left on the strawberries. The bacon was so hard it was inedible. The latte was so sweet I had to water it down quite a bit to enjoy. My server was really nice once I got helped and she did take the bacon off the order. Maybe I ordered the wrong items? Overall, just an overwhelming experience.

Overall good experience. Service was great but it is very small so expect so chaos. We also were frustrated to find out they don’t have high chairs. This was hard since we had our baby and had no where to put him.

This is the most lovely place- food is so delicious and well prepared, fresh. Their staff is so patient, kind and friendly. I love coming here. If you’re in a big hurry or not in the mood to just chill and wait to have things prepared for you and to get the same attention they focus on giving to everyone, you might want to pick a bigger or chain type spot. You will not be disappointed. Special spot for sure. NOTE- Photo was after I was halfway through. Big portion, avocado toast, lots of greens which I loved and crispy chickpeas too- really yummy!

We were seated and ordered right away. We ended up waiting for the food for 40 minutes. 15 minutes in we got one dish but the other two took another 25. The food was good but not good enough to negate the long wait.
