Bidrage med feedbackI heard rumors of a delicious tonkatsu restaurant in the remote town of Wakasa in Tottori Prefecture, so I decided to visit. I went on a Saturday and found out that they have a reservation system where you need to write your name down in advance and then come back an hour later to be seated. It wasn't terribly crowded, but with the limited number of customers they can accommodate per hour and the time it takes to cook the white tonkatsu, the wait was unavoidable. I was surprised to find out that the trend of white tonkatsu that started in Tokyo has made its way to Tottori Prefecture. The white tonkatsu was incredibly tender, especially when thick, making it very juicy. I recommend the premium cuts for this reason. The downside is that it's difficult to drain the oil properly, so it can end up a bit greasy. The high quality of the tonkatsu in Tottori Prefecture is rare and well-deserved. I found that the mille-feuille cutlet lacked impact compared to the regular tonkatsu, so I suggest sticking to the classic. Eating tonkatsu as a cultural tradition was a unique experience, blending the local charm of Tottori with innovative cuisine. If they could reduce the greasiness a bit, it would be perfect. I definitely plan on returning. Thank you for the delicious meal.
I had never tasted such delicious tonkatsu before. If there was a restaurant nearby, I would want to go every day. The oil was fresh, and the breading of the tonkatsu was white. The breading was crispy, and the meat inside was incredibly tender. I ordered a set meal and a menchi katsu on its own, both of which were also a first for me. When I split it in half, the juice from the meat overflowed. I highly recommend trying the menchi katsu as well. There was a line before opening on holidays, so I recommend making a reservation before going.
Located along an old road that veers off from the main highway, this restaurant is quite popular and operates on a time-limited basis, so it's best to go before noon to avoid missing out. The atmosphere of the restaurant is pleasant, and the service is polite, making for a comfortable lunch experience. Although the tonkatsu may appear lightly fried, it is incredibly delicious and I couldn't help but finish it all in one go! The only downside is that the location of the garage is a bit difficult to find.
