Hotel und Restaurant Monte Somma

.We didn't get round to eating as the service was so poor. We arrived to darkness some lights were turned on when we arrived. After quite a while a waitress came to take drink orders for four. After taking two of our choices she scuttled off back behind the bar to pour a drink for someone who had just arrived. When asked if we could order drinks for the other two people the waitress was quite rude so we left.

Staying a few nights in Assmannshausen, and found this gem a real delight after a week of 'solid ' german meals. Lovely garden area to sit in very atmospheric. OK, the railway line is directly behind the wall, but that didn 't spoil anything. The ONE thing that did spoil the occasion was the service or lack of it ! Our waiter was clearly not interested in serving, and having removed our plates he disappeared to sit with his friends and eat his pizza. so no chance of getting any dessert or coffee. We gave up in the end. A real shame, as it could have been a lovely evening, and would have had a great review as a result.

After a few days of German cuisine in its various forms this restaurant provides a delightful change. Freshly made bruschetta, a couple of tasty pizzas and an Italian red wine all in the peaceful garden at the rear of the restaurant. Very nice thank you.
