Ruakaka Tavern

Came here in 2002 and had literally the worst steak I've had in my life. It was so bad that now, 21 years later I'm still thinking about how bad that steak was. Was dry. Leathery. Thin. Tasted like someone cooked it on a forman grill for 20 minutes then threw it in the microwave for another 5 for the fun of it. Looking at the pictures now it seems quite good. Definitely improved in the last 21 years. But it's 2 am, I'm half way across the world and This steak was so bad it's keeping me up at night. I had to vent this so I can sleep soundly.

Ainga restaurant . I was really surprised by the whole deal. Atmosphere was great and so was the service. The best part of all was the food and the price. Great food and great value. We will be back. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner

Initial thoughts were the place was a bit rough and not much to look at. It is very much sports bar. However the food is the same they provide for the restaurant which was closed at the time and it was really good with great a great portion size. I had the Tomahawk steak and my partner had the chicken salad, both were great and plentifully not to mention great value for money, staff were really friendly and accommodating. Recommended.
