Bidrage med feedbackWe came there for lunch. Only two more persons in the restaurant. Lots of staff in the kitchen though. Ordering took a long time and waiting even longer. Food was ok, but absolutley nothing to make you want to come back another time
We selected this restaurant/hotel as our meeting point for a quick family get together. Weather was just right, allowing to sit within the large beer garden overlooking the medieval city walls of Rothenburg. Our waiter has been working at the Rappen for 33 years and...was still giving us smiles and efficient easy service. The restaurant has a capacity of 1000 patrons as well as a hotel of 60 rooms with an expansion being in progress. Food was traditional with savoury pan cakes being the specialty all at very reasonable pricing. There is Guest parking for hotel guests (limited) and a large public car park right next door between the hotel and the city wall. The public car park requires a parking fee which starts at 1 hr but can also be the full day at euro 5.5! The ticket machine will take credit cards and offers a variety of languages.
Ate here for lunch upon arriving in town. The pfankuchen soup is interesting nice salty bullion with semisweet pancake strips. The house special pancakes are wonderful more like huge crepes and served with either apple compote or raspberry preserves. DO NOT MISS THE...RASPBERRY PRESERVES!!! My salad came with a tiny piece of chicken and some very well prepared shrimp tasty, but like most German establishments prefer, the salad was not so much overdressed as marinated. Beer was cold and wonderful, of course, and the latte macchiato is addictive. The bier garden makes bringing dogs along super easy and they were welcomed by our waitress with a bowl of cold water.
Tasty food, good selection and generous portions. Typically German. The Tucher pilsener went down a treat too.
One star for location, parking and cleanliness of the room. One star minus for the fact that the walls are paper thin so could her my neighbor whistling in the shower at 6 am. One star minus for his sill thing. Came back from town...at 9:30PM. I know I’m a party animal, but the city was empty by 7:30PM. As I walked in, the restaurant was packed. I came to the host and asked if I can get a dessert only. She said sorry but kitchen closes at 9. Really for the piece of strudel you need a chef?! That’s why 3 stars
