I'm grateful that amongst all the COVID 19 insanity, they still offer comforting sweet and savory waffles for contact free curbside pickup. It was really easy to place my order online through Toast. I actually was able to put in my order when I was having midnight cravings, to pick up the next morning at 9am. And I ordered 6 waffles! Did I mention midnight cravings?? I was instructed to pull up at the Potluck round about, where I saw Nordic Waffle's pickup table and signage. You should call when you arrive, but they were ready for me! I rolled down my window and they placed my bag o' waffles on my passenger seat. I bought 3 All Day Breakfast waffles to help me get out of bed for the rest of the week. We also really loved their Brown Cheese and Strawberries waffle savory and sweet! The Bacon Mac and Cheese is heavyyy and best when shared imho, and I also got a plain waffle to add my own fixings to. I've gotten their mushroom honey waffle before too, and that's another fave!
I've been eyeing this place whenever I went to Rosedale mall and I finally tried it when I went with my family today. We ordered the brown cheese and jam one and the mac and cheese one (can't remember their exact names). Didn't take too long to get our order even though there was a line in front of us. Both were pretty good but I probably wouldn't get the brown cheese one again. Didn't feel like it was all that special. I really like the mac n cheese one with bacon bits and I would that again. However, overall, the experience was 4 stars or less. The waffle itself was soggy and limp. I think if it were crispier and just as soft on the inside it would've been better. Id like to try the one at the state fair after seeing all these great reviews! Anyways, it was a good afternoon snack. Doesn't fill you up so wouldn't go there for a meal.
I've had these waffles at the state fair a few times. They are always hit, fresh and FANTASTIC! I love the breakfast one (with the bacon), but the cinnamon one is also a home run.
I've had Nordic Waffle's offerings at the MN State Fair and also at Norway House. Every order has been on point and perfectly executed at both those outposts. I've now had 5 waffles from the Nordic Waffle at Rosedale and each time they are quite anemic and floppy. Sometimes they come out pale, soft, and flabby. Sometimes they come out with very uneven browning but also still flabby. Somehow both ways lack texture or the full flavor that comes from caramelization done right. The ones from Norway House and the Fair are always wonderfully golden and crisp on the outside while still pliable and tender on the inside.Perhaps the staff for Rosedale aren't as attentive to the cooking? Or their waffle irons don't get as hot or are set at a lower temperature?? Or are the irons too hot? And the waffles can't fully cook before they burn?? Also, sometimes at Rosedale the items aren't made to order and they try to pass a pre-made room temperature waffle off on you, even when it's slow. I've also watched an employee break off all the little crispy bits of waffle that ooze out around the edges (for aesthetic purposes?? and been sad because those are part of the charm and also because those little bits are delicious and crunchy. The fillings are good though and hopefully with some practice or tweaking in the training or equipment settings they get as good as their peers at the other locations. I feel a little mean about my rating but honestly it's generous and it's only because I've had excellent experiences with their food previously that I'm not giving this location 2 stars. The brunost/gjetost with lingonberry jam is my favorite and I will continue to root for Nordic Waffles.
Got 4 dishes for my husband and I to split between us and it was the perfect amount of food. We loved the berries and cream, and the cinnamon for the sweet dishes. The savory dishes we delicious as well! We ordered delivery through Doordash.
