Cucina de Manila - ROOTY HILL

I am very particular about the authenticity of Filipino cuisine. I have tried many Filipino restaurants in the Sydney area, but none of them compare to the taste of home and traditional cooking from Manila to Davao and Cebu like this one. The food here is truly authentic and exceeds expectations. I had the pleasure of tasting a real version of laing, the crispy Pata was juicy and not dry, and the sizzling sisig was made with all the right ingredients. A big shoutout to Camelia and her mother Josephine for maintaining the authenticity of the cuisine. This restaurant is deserving of a special trip, not just a casual visit, as the quality of the food is unmatched. They also host incredible seafood festivals on a weekly basis.

Yesterday, my Filipino wife, children, and I had a late lunch at this restaurant. We sat down and waited for the menu, but the waitress seemed more interested in her phone than helping us. After finally taking our orders, I had to remind her that we only wanted water. The food was average, with the meat being too dry. My wife also did not find it impressive. The service definitely needs improvement.

I made a reservation for 4 people and ordered the Boodle Fight over the phone. When my daughter and I arrived, we were impressed by the friendly staff. We were served with incredibly tasty garlic fried rice, wonderfully crispy pata, a large fried fish, salted egg with tomatoes and onions, flavorful kare kare, and the most delicious fried eggplant I've ever had. My mom and sister enjoyed everything as well. Even my picky eater daughter loved the super crispy pata. For dessert, we had a delicious ice shave potion and Boko-Padan. It was the perfect ending to a fantastic meal. I'm not sure why they don't have more customers, but we will definitely be back.

The first time to eat this kind of food. It won't be the last. Was well looked (and formed) by the staff, and almost had to roll out the door! My husband and I shared the garlic rice, pinkati and crispy kare needed to take a few... home! Get back to the bosses for Boodle Night!!!
