Bidrage med feedbackI've been stopping here now and then for a great many decades. There isn't much on this stretch of SR14 from SR 97 to Umatilla. I would think they could make some dough putting in gas pumps as the locals must not enjoy driving 30 miles west on SR14 to fill up. I've never paid much attention but there could be a card-lock place across the street for businesses that have a membership. Those tractors certainly gulp down a lot of diesel in a week's time. There used to be a ferry here that went over to Arlington, OR but it's long gone now. It was used frequently by the locals to fetch groceries across the river. In recent years the population of Roosevelt has increased dramatically after the town decided that they would build a landfill and welcome the trash from the Seattle area. Trains loaded with refuse keep truck drivers employed and busy hauling the containers up the hill to be emptied. Prior to the landfill, Roosevelt was little more than a whistle stop with a dive bar and a couple of other now derelict businesses. Food here is pretty decent these days as they are feeding local truckers who want and expect a hardy meal at a reasonable price. You'll find that here. Staff is very friendly. There's a little park and boat launch down the road (south) with picnic tables and a view of the river.
WOW! I was not expecting this place to have the best breakfast I've had in years. On my way to Stonehenge, was disappointed by the lack of options on the way. Pulled over to use the restroom, and saw they had food. I ordered The Trucker. Best hash browns I've ever had! Moist. The eggs are farm fresh, and the chef cooks them perfectly. The coffee tastes great too. This place is amazing. Stop by!
We happened to come by when they were closed. We are very grateful that they had an unlocked porta potty outside behind the ice machines. I love all the signs in the windows. Wish we had come by at a better time.
I was traveling home from visiting family and needed some refreshments. I stopped here and in the front window were signs describing various reasons I would be SHOT if I entered the premises. I get that they were probably joking, but I was traveling by myself and my car is unreliable and it's in the middle of nowhere! What the heck?! I guess business is so booming out there they don't need to worry about making people feel welcome.
Best food for 50 miles! Okay, the only good within 50 miles. Clean, good service, nice people!
