La Tedesca - Roma

This restaurant serves typical original Roman dishes and is full of locals, always a good sign. We had a variety of dishes from mixed starters with local home made cheeses, a selection of sharing pastas which were all good. To follow a selection of grilled meats with all the trimmings. There is no menu here, the server will tell you what the options are and trust me, there is plenty to choose from. Desserts, fruits and home made liqueurs are all excellent. For anyone parking their car, use the restaurant car park as they have their security patrol on watch so nothing to worry about. I would highly recommend this restaurant for typical original cuisine and wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

We had a late lunch at this restaurant. Many good pasta options and sauces. Good wine selection. Reasonable prices. Good service.

Perhaps not the fault of the restaurant, in which food was average and service below average, but both our cars were broken into in the parking lot and all luggage stolen. The proprietor was seemingly unimpressed and told us the carabinieri would not come to the scene. His directions were good, however, and we got a police report at the station in about two hours. Decent restaurant close to the airport, just don't leave anything in your car!

We have eaten at La Tedesca many times over the last few years. It is a restaurant sandwiched between rail road tracks and a very busy industrial street. When the train comes by it shakes the building which frankly give the restaurant a lot of character. When the heavy duty trucks come by on the road in front simultaneously it is a real treat. The restaurant is really for the working class truck driver or work man. But do not let that fool you. The food is terrific. No one speaks English in the restaurant but, that I think is a plus for us English speakers. When we arrive and they figure out we speak English with a little bit of Italian mixed in they go to work making sure we order the best dishes of the day. Frankly it is a blast to eat here!
