Bidrage med feedbackSo much potential. The venue, indoor and out, is beautiful. My husband and son had the cacio e pepe, which was quite food. But my sandwich of roast beef and cheese was disappointing. The bread was dry, and my accompanying tortilla chips were stale. Most importantly, we approached for a table, and were dismissed, literally with a wave of the hand. Apparently there was a lack of tables (there were several free and we were actually seated shortly after. For the cost, it could have Been better overall.
We attended the Opera Brunch January 1, 2023 and it was amazing. The food was pletniful, varied and of excellent quality. The entertainment was outstanding. We were a party of 6 (ages 79, 75, 46, 46, 14 and 8). Each person felt the same way. We spent three weeks travelling Sicily and Rome and when we were all discussing what stood out for each of us during our trip this was a unanimus choice. Restaurant manager, Noufal, was excellent to deal with. It was my mother's birthday and he made it extra special by seating us next to the music performers, having them sing happy birthday and bringing out a special birhtday cake with a candle. I highly recomend attending the Opera Brunch if you can.
Staying in the Westin and thought we’d try its restaurant, the Doney. The starter was promising- well prepared mushroom- but I then tackled the main course- guinea fowl- and finished it in four mouthfuls. That was it. It was nothing more than a shrivelled chicken leg. And a malnourished chicken at that. In my room now, starving because we drove to Rome during lunchtime, had nothing to eat and we were looking forward to a delicious dinner. Where do chefs get the idea a few shreds of meat make a main course? What do I do now? Order room service? Go out for a pizza? I’m absolutely starving and 80 Euros the poorer.
We arrived early, prior to 7:00 pm. We ordered from the lunch menu which was very good but limited. We will return for dinner (cena).
We’ve eaten at many restaurants over the last 8 days in Rome. Our best meal was at our hotel in The Doney. Both mine and my husband’s meals exceeded our expectations. Absolutely delicious… the lamb was the best I’ve ever tasted and the steak filet was exceptional. I highly recommend.
