Daylight Donuts - Rocky Mount

I 'd first like to preface this review by saying that I will refer to another review from a couple of months ago that I thought was particularly mean-spirited while not providing much helpful information. The review in question derides a member of thestaff for doing the literal bare minimum and calls into question his hygiene and cleanliness. I 've only been to DaylightDonuts a handful of times, but it has been enough to know that there are only two customer-facing employees, so I am deducingwhom that review is referring to by process of elimination. The employee that the review refers to is someone I am looselyacquainted with through volunteer work that we do together, and though I only know him briefly, I thought that the review wasvery unfair because it did not give any specific grievances with his hygiene and cleanliness, which I know to be nothing outof the ordinary. In hopes of combatting misinformation, I 'd like to offer in my review that the two staff members at the frontalways are friendly and helpful, even though it appears that they are very busy (I have seen them switching between running theregister and baking). Employees wear gloves when handling food and beverages, are appropriately dressed and groomed, and excelat maintaining the mom pop atmosphere that is so unique to small businesses like this one. It 's true that they could dowith a bit more help baking to keep up with the demand, or potentially begin baking a little earlier (although I do not know ifthis would be unreasonable, as I don 't know when they begin baking for the day). The fully-stocked selection represents all ofyour classic favorites, like chocolate iced, chocolate with sprinkles, glazed, powdered, etc. The eclairs, cinnamon buns, andfritters are great choices for people who might not prefer a donut. Unless you go right when the open you probably will not have much selection. Hours are not catered to the people. Asked employee what was the local favorites 2 times. She replied with what would you like. Not answering any questions. This place should keepmaking doughnuts all through out the day.

This was a confusing review. On the one hand you have their doughnuts like there popup(i don 't remember the name but It was like a porcupine and an apple fritter lost all the apple and had a wonderful baby) was a superb doughnut with good crispy bites onthe outside and a chewy center. The bacon maple bar was another good one on the list. Still had a strong hit of bacon and didnot hold back on the maple where most bars I have had hold back on one of them. It was a huge and slightly a little overwhelmingby the end so i suggest splitting this one. The customer service was also great. Nice person behind the counter good smile andgood greeting. Now for the negatives lets start with the biggest one. The Ice Coffee, I know its in a small town with onlyother two local coffee shops. That doesn 't make up for when i order an ice coffee and you still just fill a cup full of ice anddump hot coffee on it.... That is watered down trash that all the ice melts and you are left with lukewarm coffee flavoredwater, far from my original order of an ice coffee. Secondly your Boston Cream was so bad I threw the rest away. I got a few inmy mix because they are my favorite doughnut I tried two of yours and each one as just nasty. I don 't know if it was a weirdchocolate, or low filling, to a bland and way to doughy dough. Lastly the Oreo cake doughnut was a little dense and heavy evenfor a cake doughnut for my liking and calling this an Oreo anything is an insult. I would call it a cookie crumble chocolatecake doughnut, but in the end it was ok and might get it. Overall this was a confusing review because the variety in thedoughnuts.

This is my favorite place to get coffee for the most part. There is an employee there that does the literal bare minimum and it makes the experience a poor one. Hygiene should be an essential part of running a business. When I come into a place to get foodor drinks that have to go through someone else?s hands I like to think that cleanliness should be Important. The other girlalways makes my coffee perfect, and luckily her customer service makes up for the rest. Also they are usually out of a lot ofthings.

Daylight donuts has been around here for a few years and I have to say it's a great place to go get donuts! I just love their varying flavors.
