Bidrage med feedbackI tried the beef tamales and was immediately hooked. They're absolutely delicious, No Lie. The only disappointment I had was the fact that I didn't buy more initially for my order. Thank you guys so much I definitely will be back. So thankful that you guys are just across the street from me!
I'm from SoCal. I've bought tamales from the best restaurants and been gifted them by the most talented abuelitas around. These guys are *legit*.Tried a whole variety of their offerings. Chicken and pork, sure. But also black bean, chile relleno, colorado and another I've forgotten. Straight up authentic and excellent quality. Go here.
I’ve never tried tamales from Oaxaca before and I’m used to the traditional tamales with the corn husks but these ones came with banana leaves. I tried the pork, chicken, and jalapeño cheese. ALL OF THEM were DELICIOUS. Super moist and flavorful. My favorite was the jalapeño cheese. They all had a little kick but I love it! Cesar was super nice and his brother and both were welcoming! Really good peoples. I’d recommend ! I even put in an order for this Sunday for a dozen for my small get together and can’t wait to try the other ones I didn’t get! (I didn’t take a pic of the pork only a video but it won’t let me upload).
Tried the pork w/ mole, jalapeno cheese, and the chicken verde. Delicious. They are bigger than most tamales I have ordered in the past and are worth the price. Will be returning!
Now, these are some bomb ass tamales! I was checking out the Old Oakland Friday farmer's market and saw the Oaxacan tamale stand. To be honest, I've seen this stand several times at this farmer's market, but for some reason I've never tried them until recently. Well, THAT was a huge mistake. Grabbed a couple of tamales while I was on my lunch break and ended up having them for dinner that night, and these babies truly blew my mind! The small tamales are $3 each and the large are $7. They serve the traditional flavors of pork, chicken, and jalapeño-cheese as well as some vegetarian and vegan options. The large tamales are their special tamales and these come in chile verde, chile relleno, and chile colorado flavors. Pork tamales are my favorite meat flavor to have, but unfortunately they sold out of them that day. Ended up getting one chicken and one jalapeño-cheese instead. I've had Oaxacan style tamales in the past and they weren't my favorite. When I saw that these were wrapped in banana leaves instead of tamale paper, I got nervous. My previous experience with tamales wrapped in banana leaves was terrible. But once I took my first bite out of these, that fear went straight out the window. I'm convinced that I just had a bad batch the last time because these tamales were dynamite. First of all, it's all about that jalapeño and cheese! Loved this one to death. It's no surprise since this is my favorite kind of tamale to eat. The cheese was nice and gooey and the masa was moist but not to the point of disintegrating. The chicken tamale was a tad bit dry, but the flavor was still really good. I've found that chicken tamales are usually drier than pork, and this is why I prefer pork if I'm getting one with meat. I didn't get any salsas this time around but they do sell them. I wish that they would provide them in smaller sizes as opposed to large tubs since I only got two tamales. Nevertheless, I still really enjoyed them. I will definitely be back for more, and hopefully they'll have pork next time so that I can finally try it.
