The best, most unusual home cooked Croatian food I’ve had. That corn and sausage soup... and the dumplings with cottage cheese and fruit sauce fabulous.
Best little restaurant in the region....the food,the staff, and the atmosphere tell the joyfull story of the wonderful simplicity of being.
This is one of the best places in Volosko, Opatija and Rijeka combined... If you want great food, great vine and awesome music...this is the place for you... Can I give 10 stars rating? :
Skalinada is located at the top of the narrow alleys and alleys of the old town of Volosko, Skalinada is exactly the type of place your average gastronomic traveller dreams of and salivated over during the long cold dark winter months. We sat in a small and pretty courtyard next to the kitchen garden and chose a refreshing little menu (always a good sign). The dishes offered contained only a few ingredients, locally produced and organic, where possible; again safe signs of a self-confident cook and complete interest in playing the (exuberant tourist market). My companions homemade tagliatelles with shaved truffles were simply sublime (and I never used this word! . My Ox-Togue (with salsa and sautéed potatoes was nicely cooked, deep aromatic and simple... good, raised. We shared a garden salad, dressed with in-house organic olive oil-red vinegar, which was the best salad I've ever had since my friend abandoned his allocation and stopped us to conceive the freshly tinted goods. The wine list is small, but cleverly assembled, the staff charming... we had no place to pudding this time. Oh, my God. Then we have to go back.
