What a magical little location. I've lived in the bay my whole life and had no clue this area existed. The highlights for me are how unique and eclectic the space is, how breathtaking the view is and how awesome it is to get to experience live music while you eat. Also they have a bunch of vegetarian friendly options which is unusual at a BBQ spot. It's also all outdoor seating so it's been great to go during Covid. Dishes I recommend:-The portobello burger: It was juicy, the sauce was amazing and it had plenty of yummy melted cheese-The brisket: (I didn't try it but my dad ordered it and raves about it)-The vegetarian platter: it was a huge portion and me and my friend shared it and still had food left over (The only reason I didn't give this spot a higher rating is because we found a huge hair in our sample platter and it killed the vibe. I know these things happen but it was off putting and we weren't able to finish our meal)
Wow, what a funky, cool place this is. Glad I discovered it before it closes.Good food and drink, live music, burning ? man art ? and a lovely spot on the bay at point San Pablo. We spent the whole afternoon here recently, which is really easy to do with all they offer. This is a great spot for a party or gathering. Plenty of room and parking and definitely off the beaten path. Can't imagine what will become of this place after the restaurant closes ?.Love to go back at some point, will see?
Took this place for granted and didn't check it out until this past weekend, the week before their closing date. Because of this, I think there may have been more customers than usual. I did overhear a lot of people saying that it was their first time there, and the employees didn't seem very thrilled to be working that day.Because I had to park in the overflow lot, it was a short and beautiful stroll along an old railroad track towards the BBQ. Black Star has a unique waterfront location with a lot of quirky decorations and live music. I'm not well versed on BBQ, but I thought the food was pretty good even though I'm generally not a fan of greasy/oily food. While the food wasn't mind-blowing for me, Black Star Pirate BBQ has done a fantastic job of creating a special, eccentric foodservice establishment that is just so hard to find nowadays! Sad to see that Black Star has to vacate this place, but I'm hoping they'll find an equally lovely place to move to.
This place is worth traveling to from Brentwood. The brisket was so moist and the sides are very good. My wife and our two kids really enjoy stopping here for the food and the atmosphere. The drive is a bit sketchy so use patience when driving it's narrow road. Both times we have been here there has been live music around noon. Perfect for a craft beer and an appetizer before lunch. I don't appreciate the tight parking but that is minor. Dogs are welcome.
