Richmond Night Market

BRING CASH!!!!! Cash only to get in most vendors only take cash! I wish I have known this before coming bc it was a struggle getting cash off from their ATM machine (I am from California). Others were struggling to get cash as well. There was a longgg line but there were a few workers selling tickets for up to like 6 people and you get to skip the long line. I highly recommend doing this even if you don't have 6 ppl. You can even find some strangers to split it with you. There were only 3 of us and it saved so much time. Apparently this is the largest night market in North America. I have been to other night markets such as 626 night market in Southern California and I would have to say the Richmond one does have more food vendors however 626 seems more spaced out and bigger. We got in about an hour and a half before closing due to the trouble we were having with the ATM machine, so lines weren't as long anymore for food. We got several items to try and I got to try stinky tofu for the first time. I don't think it was authentic tho bc it was definitely not stinky like how everyone says it should be. I still enjoyed it. We also got curry fish balls, pork belly from teppan bossam, chicklin cracklin, and some mussels. They were all good. Definitely recommend coming here if you haven't been and if you like Asian street food. It was a good experience to try.

We're from South California and have been to many night markets. This one is by far the best I've experienced. The longest line also! I've never had to stand in line to enter before ... it was pretty crazy but they were really organized. We waited in line for about 45-1hr to get in. There were many options for food vendors and everything we tried was good! The entrance fee was cheap too, I don't remember how much bc my boyfriend paid but it was under $10 for sure. We took the train here so we didn't have to deal with the parking but I'm not sure if it was free or not. I tried the aloha boys flying ramen, it was really really good. I asked for more shrimp instead of spam, the portion is huge. I couldn't finish it. It seemed simple to make but really good flavors. It comes with huge garlic shrimp. My boyfriend got the garlic shrimp plate and the owner/chef was so so nice because he answered my questions about which items were gluten free for my boyfriend and this was one of them. When we ordered he also made sure to remind me and the cashier to not get mac salad to keep it GF. When he handed it to me he also made sure to say it has not mac salad for Gf. Such great customer service, my boyfriend really appreciated it bc it was one of the few items he could actually eat at the market. Thank you! Also tried the thai mango sticky rice vendor... it was pricey and portions a little small but really really good and fresh. I would 100% recommend this. We got a mango sticky rice and a thai tea... both were so good. Prob best thai tea I've had. They were really nice and funny, the guy with the Winnie the Pooh costume was great lol! I tried the Korean bbq stand with the pork belly on a bed of cabbage.... I mistakenly chose bbq thinking they were going to grill the pork belly but what it meant was that they just drizzle actual American bbq sauce on it. Lesson learned, bbq sauce on pork belly is not good. I would get the original if you go here. The last thing my boyfriend got was the Mochi with fresh strawberries inside. So good! Very pricey though but the quality is great. We had a lot of fun there and it was one of my favorite things we did while visiting Vancouver.

Night Market! This is a must when visiting Canada! I wanted to travel somewhere for my birthday so decided to go to Canada for a few days. My main thing of course was the Richmond Night Market! Before I booked my flight, I made sure the night market is still in operations lol. Found out their last weekend was my birthday weekend so it worked out! Yay! My sisters and I were in Vancouver for few days. We knew ahead of time there would be a lot of food vendors so we had to go to the night market more than once. Read that the lines would be super long to get in so both times, we got there around 6:30 and gates opened at 7pm. General admission is $7 for adults. There were 3 of us. We got the Zoom/Express Pass for $35 which allows up to 6 ppl/entrances. To us, that is a better deal since we went more than once. I read from other reviews that the Zoom/Express Pass can only be bought/used for group of 6 people. That is not true. I confirmed with the workers from the night market. The Pass is good for up to 6 people or entrances. If your group has less than 6 ppl and only coming once, it's best to just pay for the regular admission price unless you want to team up with other groups there and get the Zoom Pass together. The Pass is only good for getting in. It is not used for inside. This Pass helps you get inside sooner and wait won't be as long as the regular line. There are 2 separate lines for the entrance. One for regular entrance which is on the left side. One for Zoom pass, located on the right side. So excited to finally get inside. The night market has food vendors, games and shops. Most vendors served Asian food. There are few rows of food vendors but plenty of options. The place got super crowded but the wait to order and get the food wasn't too long of a wait. I would say the max from ordering and getting the food was around 20 minutes. Big Beard Super BBQ Steak Beef, Honey Garlic Chicken and Tofu Skin skewers. Also got Fried Squid with chili sauce. The skewers were not that good. Each one has a weird aftertaste that we didn't like. Fried squid was really good though. Crispy and but tangy from the sauce. Skewers were 4 for $15. Fried squid $15 for small. Chickin Cracklin Fried Chicken Skin. Soy Garlic, Salted Egg and Mapo Tofu. Soy garlic was really good. Highly recommend. Salted egg was good as well. Mapo tofu was only alright. Had a bit of weird flavor to it. All the skins were fried to perfection. Each was $13. We orders the soy garlic one 2 times. It was that good! Tochi Mochi French Toast. Got the flight which came with all 4 flavors. Ovaltine, Kaya Coconut, Matcha and Nutella. Came with ice cream. Of all the flavors, I liked the kaya coconut the best. I think the mochi fench toast will taste better by itself without the fillings. It was either $14 or $15. Boomchicken Fried Chicken Bolo Sando. The chicken was quite small. Overall a pretty good sandwich. Bun was buttery and had the crisp like a regular bolo buns. $17 Takoyaki Takoyaki. There were a couple vendors that were selling takoyaki. This vendor's name was just Takoyaki. Their takoyaki was only meh. Virgin Cocktail Pina Colada Slush. They made their stand nice by displaying their drinks in lights! I got their regular cup which was $8. For the bottle, add $2. For sticker, add $1. For lights, add $1 each. Drink itself is good. Nori Express Sushi Tacos. My sisters said their tacos were really good. They got them 2 times. Aloha Boys Flying Cup Noods $16, The Boat $23 and The Tray $13. The presentation for the Flying Cup Noods was definitely instagrammable! The noodles was only half the cup. Bottom half was just cabbage lol. Noodles was good. Perfect texture. The Boat actually came with a lot of shrimps. Tokyo Katsu Sand Chicken Katsu. Tiny and wasn't good. $17 Mangoo Super Mango Mango Coconut. Really good drink! Super creamy. Had the perfect balance of mango and coconut. $6 Squid Feast Fried Squid with sweet n sour sauce. The squid was a bit on the harder side but it was good. Just too full at the end to finish

It's open all summer usually on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. It was our first time going there. We went in a Saturday at 8pm and there was a little aur outside waiting to buy tickets to enter in.. around 25 people ahead of us. The market has around 3 rows of food stalls and many of them weren't even there. So that was disappointing considering the fact that they market the food stalls only on their social media.. I thought this market would have more of the food stalls which was not the case. Also there should be more variety in food. So many of them were selling skewered meats and squids. Most of the prices per dish is around $15 cad. The best stall was the deep fried Bao buns. I miss LA's food scene so much though and their 626 night market even more after going here! [hidden link]
