The staff was extremely knowledgeable about which items on their menu contained gluten and how to avoid cross-contamination. The menu changes, but during the week I was there the only item that contained gluten was fried, which made it much easier to avoid CC. The food was also some of the best tasting we had in Iceland.

Skal! was recommended to us by our tour guide. It is in Hlemmur food hall in the bus terminus. There are lots of gluten free options on the menu. Talk to the staff about what is available, as the menu changes regularly. We opted for the Baked Artic Char and Beef Skirt Steak. The presentation and the flavours were absolutely divine. We really enjoyed our food and the atmosphere this is beautiful food served in a very relaxed and casual environment. Would thoroughly recommend.

Phenomenal experience! It was recommended to us by an Icelander. Food was phenomenal. The bartender was also very knowledgeable, especially in wines. It's also in a good court that reminded us of Portland. We will definitely be back.

TL;DR High quality food in a casual setting Dropped in on a Thursday afternoon and I'm so glad we did. We ordered three dishes and loved all of them. Saltbaked beets Icelandic scallops Lightly baked cod The cod was the dish that surprised me the most. It's served in a frothy broth over potatoes in a bowl. It wasn't what I expected but was excellent. I also liked the casual bar setting. Great place!

Amazing experience from beginning to end. The restaurant is located in a really cool dining room with an elegant yet entertaining atmosphere. Prices are very reasonable and everything is cooked to order. Aleksandr was my server and is incredibly helpful and pleasant to speak. I enjoyed the lemonade of the day, rock steak with potatoes, and dessert with Skyr mouse and Icelandic blueberries. This was my favorite meal when visiting Iceland and can not wait to return for a future visit.
