Gourmet Wok - Reigate and Banstead

My partner and I decided to get a take away delivery at 7pm as it was our Anniversary treat. After 2 phone calls it finally arrived at 9pm stone cold and tasteless so most of it went in the bin . As you can imagine a ruined evening so I definitely do not recommend Gourmet wok if your planning a nice evening in.

Ive worked on the plumbing on the kitchens in here and it was clean and all the chefs were preparing fresh food. I also eat from here regularly as I know the owner puts a lot of effort into his food! Not sure why all the bad reviews?

Salt Pepper Squid is my FAVOURITE dish, whether from a Chinese or Thai outlet. I do not eat out a lot due to being on my own and on a budget so when I do have the opportunity it is (or should be) a real treat. I went into the takeaway bang on 1700 when they open and ordered. I only had a 10 minute drive home and on arrival could not resist diving into the squid dish. To my huge disappointment, the 2 pieces of squid I ate were tough, chewy and the batter under cooked. There was no way I was going to drive back in the dark and intended to take the dish back over last weekend. I was unable to do this as I mislaid my car key for the only time in the 22 years I have owned the vehicle so to give Gourmet Wok another chance I will order this dish again and will sample it when I am still in the premises. If it is as tough, chewy and horrible as last Friday I will complain. For the record, I have NEVER had rubbish salt pepper squid from the Thai place at the Red Cross, next door to Reigate Convenience Store, only good food and courteous service. Gourmet Wok would do well to take out of their book; just because they have been in Reigate longer does not mean they can rest on their laurels unless they want to lose business..........................

We got a takeaway for the whole family the chicken curry had cubed pieces of chicken. We had lots of other dishes And we’re all ill the next day. Avoid at all costs Won’t be using again.

Delivery is 0 out of 10 After 2hrs still no food contacted them to be told 15min ! 20min later told it could be 30more mins
