Bidrage med feedbackI take my customers here after a long day visiting the business I represent in the UK. I have been a few times of the last couple of years. Great drinks. Great surroundings. The staff are helpful and stays open later than most bars in the town.
After being away from my hometown for a couple of years, working in the industry, I decided with some colleagues to make a drink trip in my home town and areas next to it. Following the suggestions of old friends, we decided to visit all of this new cocktail bars opened recently that according to them made a revolution in Reggio cocktail scene. We started from Jigger, which was also the main suggestion from many people in the street. Our feelings were already a bit wrong when everybody was suggesting the place for their great new drink called Moscow Mule....but we decided not to care and try. The venue was really really good looking, with a touch of old school applied to a modern bar, even thou it was insanely packed (normal since that was a Friday night). Problem started immediately when bartender weren 't able at all to manage a big crowd, letting friends and friends of friends ordering first (i literally was second in line and took me more than fifteen drinks ordered from the back of the line to be served). Once I had the chance to speak with the bartenders I figured out that knowledges about classic drinks were pretty low and ordered a couple of always good and easy drinks. Disappointment started first when seeing shaking a drink and pouring it in the glass with the same ice that was shaked with. It was a whisky sour and measurements were completely wrong, while also bitters were missing. I asked to add them and got answered I am a pretty weird and unusual guest. So they didn 't put bitters. Second drink was a Negroni that was completely not stirred and way over poured. The final touch were orange zests, made in advance and kept in a glass, very dry and without any citrus oil left inside, working for a club but not for a cocktail bar that claims to be the best in the country. We decided not to order another round, and left glasses almost full. Considerations: Poor service (Quality of a cocktail bar depends also on how you manage a busy day, people standing and screaming everywhere are symptoms of a lack of workers and of common sense), Average bartenders (at least on what concerned classics, which are the base of our job) and overrated bar. I will give it a try again in the future to check if improvement have been made in the while, cause the venue is great and the concept of food (which looks nice but I didn 't have the chance to try) and cocktails is something that represents, according to me, the future of the industry. So far so bad, but hoping to see it growing.
Photos will speak for me: the historical settlement is the real plus of this restaurant. I tried it for lunch and ending it satisfied: nothing stellar but both food and beverages were fine. I will try, in the next to come future, their different proposals for late evenings and after dinner: Jigger's position and history deserve to be lived during night, before completely marking it, too. up to now, good work.
Excellent cocktails, beautiful atmosphere and personal tops. Don't order alcohol because it wouldn't make sense here. offer bananas.
Top cocktail on reggio, I recommend you to recommend by the bartender!
