Danish Cafe - Red Bank

This is am amazing local eatery. Nikki and Chino are warm and welcoming and make you feel at home. I had the French Dip. It was served on the most delicious crunchy bread with a healthy serving of roast beef and topped with melted swiss. Then....omg, hot out of the oven was the blueberry citron sugar cookie! Unreal. Check this place out. It's in a great location at the galleria on Bridge Avenue.

Yikes. As previously reviewed, I loved the Danish Café. As a Dane, it was so exciting to go somewhere and have authentic food, to be able to order in Danish, and the quality and variety of the food was amazing, even if you knew nothing about Danish cuisine. The original owners, however, are gone, and a lot has changed. It looks much the same, but the only Danish pastry they had for sale was...a danish. (Which aren 't even truly Danish, but that 's beside the point. Gone are the æbleskivers (essentially donut holes with strawberry sauce and the variety of authentic pastries that would sit in the pastry case. I had an egg and tomato open-faced sandwich, which took about 15 minutes to get to our table. 15 minutes to slice some sub-par dark rye bread, an egg, and a tomato and put it on a plate. Seriously. I ordered my sandwich by asking for a smørrebrød, which is how it is listed on the menu. I was met with a blank stare, which is fine, no worries. But when I asked if they were still associated with the original owners, the cashier said they were moving away from the Danish brand. Uhhh...okay. It 's not a bad café, I guess. They have cookies and brownies and sandwiches. Coffee and tea. A nice atmosphere. But the Danish part? Nope, this is all American.

After dining on lunch, I needed something sweet to cap the meal, so I stopped by this quaint cafe. Rustically decorated and having a classic coffee house feel, look, and smell; I quickly re-focused my attention to the pastry displays. I decided on a slice of the Banana Chocolate Chip cake and a Cheese Danish. The Banana Chocolate Chip cake was excellent! The cake was super moist, and the banana flavor was really distinct; leading me to think the recipe uses a healthy portion of banana creating that soft texture and strong flavor. Chocolate chips were robust and more like chunks of chocolate which tasted nice too. The Cheese Danish was equally excellent. Pastry shell was very crisp (making a slight crackle when I cut into it), multi-layered, and really flavorful with a rich buttery flavor. A hit of tartness, just a tad of cheesy funkiness, and a smooth custard-like texture; the cheese filling was spot on as well! Finally, I have to note the service which was a bit slow, as it seemed like the computerized POS ordering system was acting up, and coupled with the two staff members who were a bit scattered, it took us a good 7-8 minutes to place out order despite being second in line.

Cafe located inside the Galleria shops, which serves up Danish inspired breakfast and lunch. Decor is industrial with a coffee bar and takeout counter in one room and good sized dining room adjacent to it. I had take out and really enjoyed the food today! Ordered egg and bacon sandwich on multigrain roll and the Chicken Douglas sandwich to eat later. And, of course I also ordered a sweet treat from their bakery selection, a cheese danish. Everything was very yummy. I loved how the eggs of my egg sandwich was very fluffy and light and sandwich had good flavor. Bacon was perfect in that it was still soft instead of crispy. The Chicken Douglas was very delicious as well. The curry mayo and pineapple had a great flavor profile and went well with the grilled chicken breast on a multigrain bread. The sandwiches can come on white bread or croissant if so desired. The cheese danish was awesome! it was flakey and rich. At first I was confused where the cafe was located. I wandered around before I found it. The directory want helpful. It's located in the building called galleria shops, next to the melting pot, on the first level. Next time I come, I want to try one of their open faced sandwiches and other bakery items. If you're visiting an office or shopping in the area, stop by and have lunch or breakfast here! You won't be disappointed!

I had an absolutely lovely time at The Danish Cafe. My boyfriend and I stopped in on a grey Sunday morning. The Danish Cafe is warm and inviting, located in the Galleria shops just a short walk away from the Red Bank train station. Once you walk in, you'll smell the aged brick, wood paneling, and delicious aromas wafting from the kitchen. On that day, there was a small breakfast crowd but the interior is spacious and airy with plenty of tables. To order, make your way to the counter and view the menu on the boards above or in the provided hard copy. We ordered a roast beef sandwich platter as well as a bacon and egg sandwich along with two coffees. The sandwiches were fresh and delicious. To be honest, I wasn't expecting something other than your typical Panera/Au Bon Pain breakfast fare, but I was blown away by the rich taste, perfect texture, and freshness of all the ingredients. My bacon and egg sandwich was cooked perfectly with fluffy eggs and a toasted bun. And let's talk about that bun the bread was wonderfully flavored with coarse seeds and a delightful crunch. The Danish Cafe is a great place to visit with its combination of food, quaint ambience, and outstanding service. You won't be disappointed with this cafe that is perfect for Sunday morning newspaper browsing, a hearty breakfast, or catching up with friends.
