Bidrage med feedbackWe love la scala and we honestly never have a sub par meal. everything is always fabulous and also great cocktails. we were together with another couple last Friday, and my husband and one of our friends had the heavy fish they both overwhelmed. so fresh and generous. this is the third time that I ordered the aubergineparm as I had eaten less meat. I can't exaggerate how fabulous it is and I find auberginen parm rare fabulous. it can often be mad or hard, but la scala has it perfectly down. to do this dish is a product for fine Italian cuisine. sliced thin, texture is fabulous, never mad or hard, just perfect! fabulous Italian desserts also. never disappointed here!
Really disappointed at the service I got from this place. Never again!!!
During a recent trip to Boston, I visited an Italian restaurant located 30 minutes outside the city. It is a family-owned operation with a large bar area featuring several TVs. The seafood dishes, particularly the heavy fish, were outstanding in both taste and moisture. The veal dish was also delicious, with a generous portion size. The restaurant offers a great selection of beer, wine, and other spirits. The shrimp scampi was very flavorful and enjoyable. I especially loved the tiramisu, with the mascarpone and espresso flavors being excellent. I will definitely be visiting again on my next trip to Boston to visit my son at college. It is important to note that the restaurant only accepts cash, but the prices are very reasonable for the quality of food. The owner, Michael, was very hospitable and pleasant.
We have visited La Scala twice in the past few months. The bar area is always busy and they now serve in the bar as well. The dining room is a bit outdated and has a strange smell. We decided to eat in the dining room. Our server was excellent, but the food was just average. The first time, I had the manicotti, which is my usual choice. It was good, but it felt like something was missing. My husband had the veal Roberto, his usual dish. I noticed that the shrimp were smaller than before. This time, I ordered the veal marsala. It was okay, but not amazing. The veal was a bit tough since it was pre-cut into pieces. My husband ordered the veal Roberto again and the shrimp were still small. What surprised us the most was that the portion of pasta was much smaller this time, about half the size it used to be. It was only about three bites worth of pasta, when before it was a good size. The portion sizes seem to have gotten smaller, as well as the drinks, but the prices remain the same. We may need to consider trying a new restaurant in Randolph for our next visit.
My husband and I recently dined at La Sala. The establishment's appearance led us to believe it would be a great restaurant. I ordered the veal parmigiana, which turned out to be a disappointing piece of tough and tasteless veal. My husband tried the Veal Marsala, which he felt was only tolerable because of the prosciutto topping. The bread was decent but served cold with chilled butter. We also ordered a bottle of wine, which thankfully was the only enjoyable part of our meal. The biggest setback came when we discovered they only accepted cash payments (a fact we missed seeing a sign about). This seemed incredibly outdated, especially in the current circumstances with COVID-19. It was odd to find an ATM in the hallway for customers to use, complete with ATM fees. It's disappointing that the owner does not offer the convenience of accepting credit cards for paying customers. Overall, we will not be returning to La Sala. It was a regrettable choice for dinner.
