Bidrage med feedbackWhen we drive to italia, this is a kind of tradition to stop here first. it is right after the gotthard tunnel and it is good for a quick break. be it because you're tired that the stubborn leads to the south, or be it to celebrate the...fact that you didn't get traffic (we belonged to the last group). next to the petrol station and the self-service restaurant there is a shop/kiosk and of course the bathroom (used most visitors). the restaurant is good for a coffee or so that eating is its standard autobahn tariff. the bathroom costs. but they can use the ticket as discount for the shop above (and they can combine more than ticket, which is beautiful). for us it is only the first stop on the way to our holiday destination, a welcome quick break to stretch them and our dog for a quick walk after the long, dark tunnel. but at the end it is just another service area on the autobahn, but with a beautiful architecture.
We had set off from Lake Garda (Norditalien) and drove to luzern to spend some days. our gps lady instructed us to turn off the car, a way around, apparently the gotthard road tunnel was closed because of an accident. we had not thought to stop in the city quinto, but our route led us through piotta, so we stopped getting an alternative direction, plus, it was time for a break anyway. this is a full service stop, they can fill with benzin, buy something (treats or souvenirs) or in the restaurant for something to eat. they can have a fast meal, they serve buffet style, or as in our case have a coffee and a tasty bite. we found the server a bit sullen and eating a bit expensive. they say it is affordable, which is perhaps, according to Swiss standards. my question is why people whose jobs are only due to customer participation, how the people they serve, need to worry. Luckily this is not the case at most locations and being fair, there was not everyone in this service center this is a center that offers a series of their needs, there are washrooms available. there is a low fee to use them, this is a frequent practice at many places. we were not aware that the Swiss calculated a toll fee to drive on some of their roads, we should have been, you were suspicious enough to ask in the info center. they told us we would have done it and we could buy a vignetta carpass for chf there to put on our windshield and that it was good for the whole year on all roads. this is especially very reasonable when you see the magnificent road/tunnel system found in the Swiss. the city quinto service center is located on the west side nr. km south of the tunnel. the tunnel was shut down and who knows how long? when we went to luzern, we wanted to know if there were alternative routes for us, and we were gratefully told that there was one. the tunnel guides them through the mountain, but they can drive the old route no that leads them over the mountain. it is longer, but if you want to take the picturesque road then go the route! it would have been our first choice and it would have been very disappointing not to take it. as it turns out, the delay. was at least for us, happy! So if they drive from south to luzern and are not in great hurry, they take the picturesque route. the prospects are available to them as they climb up and up are quite spectacular. the Swiss is a great country.
We thought here was coffee and sandwiches and were satisfied with eating. the Italian waitress was nice and efficient and understood that we as Indians were not too familiar with the names and needed a little help. extra points for customer service.
High quality self-service restaurant with terrible food quality, really terrible. that is probably the reason why the place is empty. never again, better to stop elsewhere.
