Bidrage med feedbackGood Primer for Oktoberfest! The German American Social Club in Cape Coral (GASC) hosted its Half Way To Oktoberfest this past weekend, April 13 and 14. We went in the afternoon on the 14th, sunny skies and temps around 90, perfect for some time in the Biergarten. The Club opens its doors to the public for certain events and as was the case here, non members pay a $5 entry fee, members enter free. Parking is free and plentiful right next to the fest area. The Biergarten is set up outside, next to the main building. There are numerous tables and benches for seating, many with umbrellas and many trees providing shade. A covered pavilion has a stage, dance floor and more seating. There are numerous small buildings in the garden offering a variety of foods bratwurst, sauerkraut, schnitzel, deserts, and more. Other buildings offer souvenir type items. And let's not forget the bars. Well spread out and many to be found, you're never too far from a cold bier. On this day, music was provided by a duo, one playing keyboards, the other playing a saxophone and both singing as needed. We heard a good mix of German and American tunes. The bars offered a variety of German and domestic beers, wines, water and soda. German biers cost $6 for a 16 oz cup, domestic $5. THIS IS A CASH ONLY BUSINESS! No credit or debit cards accepted. An ATM is on site. Bring lots of cash! We had a good time. We chatted with some friends and enjoyed the drinks and music. We're looking forward to attending our first Oktoberfest there in October.
Biergartenfest They have a nice air conditioned building you could eat in as well as numerous tables outside. Food was good. Prices reasonable. My only complaint was the tables had bird poop all over them. Too bad no one thought about pressure washing them. Five dollar per person. Food--you buy one dollar tickets. A meal--not only including drink was 18 dollars.
Great place, great food, waitstaff is terrific! Octoberfest is a fun time there with some vendors, good beer and lists of food choices. We try not to miss this event!
So much fun today at Octoberfest. While the potato pancakes with applesauce were still there I did miss the dance groups. We were there from 2:00-6:00pm and missed the acts we saw last year. May go back next weekend and arrive later so we can stay later.
I've been coming to Oktoberfest since I've moved down for the past 12 years. I was like everyone here anxiously awaiting 2022 Oktoberfest to bring my boyfriend to it for his first time unfortunately...Ian happened. But I'm so glad this past weekend they brought us Biergarten fest! We went with our friends and we had a great time! The German American society I think was overwhelmed with the huge turn out! But we love to support our local community and yea waiting in longer lines for food is totally worth it! For the potato pancakes and we had schnitzel sandwiches! They had the other imported beers are are usually in the brick and mortar building at some of the beer huts! Loved it! We all had a great time drinking the German beers and trying new ones! )well I've had them all) but for my boyfriend who's a Miller lite fan was indulging in Allgäuer!
