Bidrage med feedbackDuring our week stay we frequently stopped here for a few beers and some pico de gallo. Great service, cold beer and good food,
The food, when it arrived was tasty but we had to wait way too long as a group. The plates arrived at different times and some were finished before others were served. The chicken nachos were a tasty snack to start us off.The draft beer was food as was the jamaica and wine.Hamburgers and fries were good as was the fish and chips. Service was friendly but slow...not sure we would go back.First time there after hearing many good things about it but not sure what the hoopla is all about.
Stopped in at 10 PM , only north american , dangerous people , my wife a Mayan local said lets get out of here . The stareing at me was nasty .
My husband and I live in Chelem and dropped by La Genuina during one of our trips into Progreso. The restaurant looked very inviting, with both inside and outside seating. We were greeted immediately and chose a table outside. I love that they have draft beer and we each ordered the large...and boy was it large – and refreshing! I ordered the grilled fish and my husband the grilled pork and we sat back to wait for the food and enjoy our beer. We were quite surprised that they didn’t offer any botanas (appetizers) – not even chips and salsa. That is very unusual and definitely a minus since there are so many restaurants that do, so you do come to expect it (and it seems that from other reviews, that we were of the chosen few that did not get botanas for whatever reason). My husband’s meal came timely so I thought mine would be right behind. I didn’t want his to get cold so told him to eat. We waited and waited and waited for mine to arrive. There wasn’t even anyone in the restaurant to ask until my husband was completely finished his meal. Our server didn’t come check on us even once. Finally, someone stood by the doors (not to check on us though), so we asked about my meal and it was promptly brought to our table with many apologies. The food was good but probably would have been better had it been brought out when fresh. So, even though the server was very apologetic and they did give us a discount on my meal, I’m not sure we would go back when I can go down the street and get great service along with botanas. I definitely wouldn’t bring any of our visitors here. It might be someplace to stop for just a nice cold draft.
On our way back to the ship we passed this little bustling bar and were welcomed in by Sergio almost immediately. The margaritas and tequila shots were fabulous and the accompanying chips and salsa were some of the best I had on the trip.Sitting outside, listening to recent new residents of Progreso from Canada and the U.S., made me want to liquidate everything and move there tomorrow so I could be part of this vibrant community.
