Di Francia Castello - POZZUOLI

Everything started with a mistake: I took the wrong exit and instead of Naples we left the motorway in Pozzuoli. We were looking for a place to dine and our daughter spotted that huge complex residing on a hill, offering an incredible view over the bay of Pozzuoli. It was early evening (especially for Italy) when we entered the secured parking site, so everything seemed empty/not in operation. The kind guard showed us the entrance to the restaurant and we sat down at one of the tables, enjoying the view over the sea. We were completely alone there, normally not a good sign for a restaurant. I have to admit, we 've had a bumpy start, because first, the waiter didn 't speak English and then the boss of the facility, Sergio, showed up and explained: We don 't have a menu . It turned out, that they don 't have a menu because they cook whatever you want to eat (local couisine, of course). So, we asked Sergio for coming up with some typical antipasti and they were AMAZING! Everything was freshly cooked, tasted incredibly well and everything was presented in a five star ambiente. The bad thing was: After the starters we were about to burst, because it was too much to eat for us. We decided to go for only two main courses (one pizza, one pasta) although we were a party of five. The pizza was made in a stone oven a few meter away from us. Sergio was coming and looking for us all the time with his wonderful daughter (aged three). We felt like we were at home, like we are a part of Sergios family. Sergio, thank you and your team for your great hospitality, your kindness and the great food and sorry, we had to resign after the starters and only two main courses, leaving without having some dessert. To everyone else: I can highly recommend this place; it 's one of the best places I 've ever been to if you are nearby, go there, enjoy the view, enjoy the hospitality, enjoy the food and come hungry! P.S.: The price was more than fair, not to say it was a bargain! I 've expected to pay much, much more...

My wife and I enjoyed a full course meal at Di Francia Castello overlooking the bay of Pozzouli. Groupon inspired the reservation, great seafood dishes, and the evenings service was amazing. Our server spoke english and was very helpful along the way. Good food and a beautiful setting. Thank you!
