The Old Hand And Diamond Inn - Powys

My family and I hadn't been to this pub in many years, and after our recent visit, it will likely be a while before we return. The food was decent but nothing special, and the prices were low which may have contributed to the average quality. With so many dining options in Shrewsbury, a restaurant really needs to stand out, and unfortunately, this pub did not meet our expectations.

We spent 2 nights at this charming old establishment in late June and were warmly welcomed. The breakfasts were fantastic, the dinner options were plentiful, and our room was cozy and comfortable. My husband is currently recovering from a stroke, but the staff were extremely helpful. He particularly enjoyed learning about the history of the Morgan cars. Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful stay.

I didn’t stay here I saw the B&B on Paramedics:Britain’s Lifesavers on Channel They provided free accommodation for the NHS staff who moved out of the family home due to Covid, at the worst time. We should definitely support the businesses, such as...this one, who helped in the fight.

We had a wonderful meal on Monday night, but Tuesday's meal was disappointing. It seems like the quality can be hit or miss. Unfortunately, Wednesday night we will be dining somewhere else.

Waitress was very rude, roast dinner was dry and bland and the cheesecake was warm and had a soggy bottom; all together I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone unless I was recommending places to avoid like the plague. When we complained about the cheesecake...(that was for all intents and purposes inedible) it wasn’t deducted from the bill, however I was offered another dessert on the house...once we were settling the bill.
