We ordered the spot on the official website! The food was boring and didn't taste good at all. The veal sauce was burnt and the dishes were hardly what we expected. We would have been fine with an OK food, but this was literally the worst food we had in France. I think they should lose their star for this.
Meeting a friend in Burgundy en route from Italy back to the UK, we were delighted to discover the Chateau Sainte Sabine, and even more delighted to encounter the fabulous, gastronomic restaurant Le Lassey. Everything about the experience was fantastic, from a “house special” Kir royal on the terrace, to three courses of the most exquisite, technically perfect and utterly delicious food I have ever eaten. Firstly, the service is wonderful. Attentive but not obtrusive. You are never hurried, and yet everything is there when you need it. Hugo was brilliant at explaining the food to us (in perfect English) and making sure we were attended to in every way. Secondly, and most importantly, the food is spectacular. It is technically perfect, but tastes amazing and surprising at every turn. Lastly, the wine is spectacular. Local and not so local wines but everything carefully chosen and expertly served. I would rate this experience as one of the finest dining experiences I’ve ever had, including several Michelin starred restaurants in London. Do try it if you possibly can.
Stayed for one night at the Chateau on the drive back home and booked a table at the restaurant for dinner. Excellent service, every waiter was polite, attentive and informative. The food was excellent and we would not hesitate in going back again when we are in the area.
Dined at lunchtime with a set menue recommended by a local friend we finally made it. Welcome and service throughout was excellent. Friendly, light, knowledgeable and perfectly correct. The wine list while reasonably expensive did have more moderately priced wines and were excellent. The food was utterly delicious, fresh and very nicely presented. Highly recommend Le Lassey and would return anytime.
Mostly I was impressed by fromage selection, but foiegras and omble chevalier among entrée have been just perfect. After tasting agneau as a main course I've understood that I still have something to learn in cuisine farnçais. It was our second visit in two years period and each time impressions were superb.
