O Alvaro - Portalegre

Great Portuguese food. A gem in a small place. Very friendly and great prices. The local white wine Casa da Urra was great.

Sr. Álvaro's Restaurant in Urra Portalegre ia a must for every visit to the region! This is the most genuine cuisine from Alto Alentejo you can get in Portalegre area. It is not located at the town center but easily reachable by car. The Lacão is one of my top choices, but I can't neglect the Tomatada, Leitão, Lombinhos, Galinha no forno and Ensopado de Borrego. Portions are tipically generous, don't be fooled by the ones who say they are small. The wine list is not very long since presents only local or national options. You can't go wrong with the local red or white wine. Absolutely recommended.

Authentic North Alentejo food.The place is small and unpretentious. The food is the best and very good quality price ratio.
