Reveille Cafe used to be one of the coolest things in Fort Warden State Park. A hidden gem that most Port Townsend locals didn't even know about. Two and a half years since my last visit and these days are gone. There are no interiors except three tables... and they're all stuffed in a corner, because of Kovid. No six foot distances required. The hardest breakfast and lunch served on real dishes with real flatware is one thing of the past. A sandwich is now available in a paper fruit container and plastic break in the mouth utensils. I asked if I should sit outside to not take a four table. Staff were confused not to know what was a fourth table or a two table for this matter. The disinfected personality-free staff informed me that the breakfast sandwiches were not available... after it was opened for 1 1/2 hours. It was the only breakfast item on Sunday breakfast menu. I chose a roasted chicken sandwich that was crispy and tasty on the outside, but the bread was soggy inside. The chicken was Tepid slices of pressed meat; Cheese melted around the edges, but not inside. the vegetables were taken from a prepacked salad; ground tomato wedges and undisturbed spinach. Unwashed tables for Kovid, I'd imagine. The bathrooms were tragic, but the cleaning protocols were all checked. The gift shop is now storage; look through the glass door at things you cannot have. Post Script I was here at Fort Worden State Park for 4 1/2 hours and have still seen a Ranger.
After running the fort we split a reuben sandwich, a mocha and chips. It is bright, sunny and very clean. The food was fast and delicious.
Coffee is good. You have 3 different types of croissants. I think a Danish or two would be better. Or any other choice. Who needs 3 flavors of croissants?
I stop in here every so often to grab a cold drink as I hike through the Fort. I no longer eat here very often. The café is bright and pleasant with large windows and nicely spaced seating. The menu has a nice selection, and there are grab and go snacks and drinks. The quality is adequate, the service is often slow and the prices are high.
