Bidrage med feedbackWe had a fantastic experience at The Old School House. We made a reservation for dinner on a quiet Sunday night and were welcomed warmly, feeling very comfortable. The hake dish was absolutely delicious, cooked perfectly with a wonderful blend of flavors. We enjoyed it so much that we returned for a second visit on Tuesday, even though the restaurant was quite busy. We also stopped by for cocktails a few times and found them to be both affordable and tasty. The atmosphere was more relaxed and cozy compared to other options in the village, though we appreciated those as well. On our last morning, we visited for breakfast after discovering our original choice was no longer serving due to the end of the season. Once again, we were greeted warmly and enjoyed a reasonably priced and delicious meal. The Old School House is truly a hidden gem in Port Isaac and I highly recommend giving it a try. The fish was just as delicious as the other restaurant we tried in the area, both owned by Nathan.
We have been to this restaurant multiple times and, as always, both the service and food were fantastic. While it may not be the most upscale or fancy dining spot, the food is of top-notch quality, homemade, and served with attention to detail. The bar is cozy with a variety of drinks and coffee options. The dining area is charming and makes for a pleasant evening out. The menu offers a good selection to suit different tastes. We also had breakfast with friends here, which was delightful and reasonably priced.
Firstly the hotel. It certainly wasn't cheap, but I had a good night's rest, and it is a very nice place to stay, with comfy room, very nicely repurposed from its school, and in a good location. I had to rush breakfast based on how late it opened, so definitely didn't get the best of that. In terms of the restaurant, the food was delicious. I had the crab tacos to start, which sounded unusual but were stunningly good. The Goan fish curry was equally good, and disappeared in a flash. Service was very friendly, and overall highly recommended.
We came here on a whim after failing to get into the pub down the road and we were not disappointed. My friend was hobbling a bit on a pair of crutches and a wheelchair and when I explained this, they were so accommodating to put us up in the lower bar and make sure we were comfortable. The menu was a bit limited for a veggie there was just one option for my friend and I, as a pescatarian, was much better catered for. However, the staff were, again, really accommodating to her request and they made sure she had something she wanted to eat. The men had the pork burgers, which disappeared quite quickly, whilst I had the hake. It was DE LICIOUS! Absolutely fab. My only gripe was they didn’t do a side of mixed veg I had to plump for the garlic courgettes, which were tasty. Most of us couldn’t manage a pudding, but one decided on the crème brûlée. He said it was the best he’d ever had! We were delighted we made the choice to eat here. The toilets were a little tricky for the one on crutches, but with determination, she managed. Lovely atmosphere and friendly service. We may pop back again before we leave Port Isaac.
Lovely surroundings. Lovely and friendly service. Delicious food at reasonable prices. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here.
