During our week on Long Island, we frequented the GKR Restaurant Fast Food Centre for breakfast and dinner multiple times. The owner, who is very friendly and has a good command of English, runs the restaurant while his wife cooks delicious food. The menu offers a variety of options, but availability can vary depending on the time of day, so it's best to ask what is fresh. We enjoyed the vegetable thali (80 rupees for a generous portion, great value for money), as well as samosas (10 rupees), pakoras (10 rupees), pancakes (50 rupees with honey, raisins, coconut, banana, and cashew nuts), and omelettes (25 rupees with vegetables and coconut sauce for an additional 20 rupees). You can also purchase cold bottles of Coke or Sprite (600 ml) for 30 rupees. The food was delicious and water was provided with each meal. The restaurant is located near the football field and school, with indoor and outdoor seating options available. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant while on Long Island, as it offers a more affordable dining option compared to the Blue Planet where you may be staying. The walk from Blue Planet to the restaurant takes about 15 minutes and can be easily navigated by following the green arrows. It's advisable to bring a flashlight if you plan to walk back after sunset.
The food at this restaurant was excellent with a wide variety of options that were all very delicious. I highly recommend this place.
We spend a week on Long Island and had breakfast and dinner several times at GKR Restaurant Fast Food Centre. The owner is very friendly and speaks reasonable English. His wife cooks lovely food. There’s a sign with all the food you can order (see picture). Not everything is always available, it depend on what time of day it is, so just ask him what’s fresh. We tried the vegetable thali’s (80 Rupees, big portion…very good value for money), samosa’s (10 Rupees), pakora (10 Rupees), pancake (50 Rupees, comes with honey/raisins/coconut/banana and cashewnuts), omelet (25 Rupees, has veggies in it and comes with a coconut sauce), paratha (20 Rupees, you get 2 pieces and some fresh chilli sauce). You can also get cold bottles of coke/sprite (600 ml) for 30 Rupees. All the food was very tasty and you get free water with every meal. The restaurant is located at the edge of the football pitch, next to the school and you can sit either in or outside. I would definitely recommend to visit the restaurant if you’re staying at Long Island. You will most probably sleep at Blue Planet where you can also eat, but it’s nice (and much cheaper) to go to the village to eat every now and then. It’s only a 15 minute walk from Blue Planet: just follow the green arrows. Take a flashlight if you’re going after sunset.
