Il Caravaggio Restaurant - Pontresina

This place was once great. local flair and kitchen. now it is just a standard cheap restaurant in a hotel. the interieur is boring and not very nice and the service is really not good.

We had wonderful unhurried meal. We had risotto and lasagna for dinner, after starting with a fabulous bruschetta. All were excellent and service was charming. We enjoyed so much we returned for lunch before leaving Pontresina. Lunch on the patio enjoying the food and sunshine...was perfect!

Stopped in on a lovely Friday night at the height of the summer season. No tables inside, but a spot outside would do fine. My order was taken in a reasonable amount of time, my beer arrived, and my plate of capuns (delicious) also appeared pretty much on cue.That, alas, was the last time I saw my waiter. I'd like to have had a dessert and some espresso, but fat chance of that. Apparently, these folks were caught off guard by the arrival of, you know, CUSTOMERS. They had two, count 'em, two waiters taking care of all the inside and outside tables, and, it would appear, preparing some of the food, as well. I actually had to go inside and make myself rather unpleasant, just to pay my check. I was sorely tempted simply to wander away down the street. No "dine and dash" required - it might have been hours before they realized I was gone.So, is this a good place for a meal? Well, yes, as long as you have a day or two to kill.

Excellent dinner, friendly waiters. You definitely should try the cold cucumber soup and the sea brass.

Found this place next to out hotel, just to sit outside and have a beer after a long day on the motorcycles. Lovely terrace on which to sit and watch the world go by. South facing so you get the afternoon sun. Went again fit a coffee after diner sat inside as it was a bit chilly. Mat some other people from England who said the food was very good, although I did not experience it first hand, looked good.
