Bidrage med feedbackThis restaurant has a simple and yet very good food. It’s located in a easy to reach area close to the “Largo de Camões”, in Ponte de Lima. I went with my husband there for lunch. I had tasteful and well prepared lamb chops. They serve also very good black olives amd “pataniscas” kind of fried rice cakes) in the couvert. The environment is informal, simple and the service is fast and attentive.
The menu offers one or two dishes that are outside the rather restricted mainstream of menus in town, so a good choice if you feel you've already eaten enough of the usual local stuff. It's also a bit more comfortable than many. Good for tourists and locals.
This is a fine looking restaurant with very nice view. We were initially attracted to the signage, offering three courses for a very reasonable price. Sometimes the appealing menu details that you read outside a restaurant turn out to be full of conditions or fine print when you get inside, but that was not the case here. What we got was actually more than we expected. There were choices within each of the three courses, and all the food that we had was of a high standard. I would certainly go back. The man in charge (manager? owner? could perhaps put a bit more welcoming warmth into his customers, but just the same he gave us good information and kept the food coming with just the right pace. Our dinner there was one of the highlight meals of our entire trip.
The menu may be limited but what they do is very well done indeed. It may not be Michelin starred but I would say it compares well to some two star establishments I've eaten in. Nicely laid out interior, music just loud enough not intrusive, lovely staff. I had the steak done to perfection for me that is, with a small salad. A carafe of the house red wine and sparkling water. Beautifully sweet and light desert and of course coffee and a drop of brandy to finish. All for 30€. Value for money I would say.
We had a lovely meal when England played Croatia in the World Cup that evening. The friendly staff set a special table up for us in front of the TV so we could watch the match whilst having dinner . All food is home made . The main dish of the house is called Broinha de Bacalhau, cod baked in a whole loaf of rye bread. Simply delicious and comfort food during England losing the match. The house salad is huge and should be shared with cheese and tuna and lots of salad things. All very fresh. Washed down with a bottle of Vino Verdhe from Porte de Lima. A lovely spot for in and outdoor eating. Very reasonably priced.
