Bidrage med feedbackGreat two nights Galdo! Fantastic local foods. Rooms are very comfortable, weather could have been better, but we managed well considering.
Cilento is the land of pure tastes and of high quality products. The Sentiero is in our opinion the quintessence of such food and hosting philosophy. Gabriella and her family are able to confer to their dishes all the love for their home products, highlighting their characteristics and tastes. Amazing location, highly typical and seasonal food selection, unbelievable quality/price ratio, bravi!!!
We have visited this area in Italy for the last 30 years. We discovered Al Sentiero last year. The food was marvelous. A rare combination of traditional southern Italian cuisine with the delicious creative twists of the Chef/ owner Gabriella. We went back this year to more wonderful food and great hospitality. They use local products, most of them from their own production. Every dish is delicious, the decor welcoming and the service excellent. I spoke with the locals and they all love this restaurant. There people that travel for 2 hours to come to enjoy the food here. If you are going to go, make sure to call ahead.
Leaving Pollica and just after Celso as you approach them town of Galdo you will find Al Sentiero, a lovely restaurant well as bed and breakfast run by the lovely Gabriella and her family. If you are thinking of enjoying some typical food of the Cilento region this is the place to go. And if you are visiting Cilento considering as a great option as it offers a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of Acciaroli and you will enjoy the spectacular views and cool evenings after a hot day at the beach. The antipasto dishes include the classic pizza frittata , eggplants prepared in different ways, goats cheeses and ricotta, breaded potato croquettes, picked eggplant and olives and more. But don 't stuff yourself -as is the temptation. The homemade pasta is great. The famous dish is caveat kelly with asparagus and prawns but non fish lovers like me will enjoy the wild boar sauce that accompany the fusilli. Main courses include veal steaks, sausage, chicken or wild boar with a wide variety of vegetable dishes to accompany. I would recommend Gabriella so famous Sentiero chocolate cake for pudding and if not the cannoli. All the desserts are homemade. And don 't leave empty handed. The produce their own goats cheese, honey and jams, all of which can be enjoyed of course at breakfast for those staying over. Would recommend this place! Enjoy!
Acciaroli is the gem of Cilento, except for its restaurants which mostly left the path of local traditions to embrace a sort of posh modern-style. Al Sentiero lays on the hills, a 10min drive from the beach, but you can 't miss it. Its cuisine is firmly rooted in the centennial tradion of this area, it uses mostly ingredients from their organic farm, included the goats ' milk turned into a special cheese. Among everything, don 't miss its antipasti , pasta dishes and the home made dessert. The cavatelli pasta (a sort of small local gnocchi is hand made daily, one by one...nowadays is a privilege to eat them! The al sentiero (whip cream and chocolate cake is a godsend. Maybe coccoa is one the few ingredients not from the farm surrounding the restaurant. Expect no frills and don 't rush, just sit down and eat as in a local family on sunday. At night, in the summer, the cool breeze makes this place even more enjoyable. This small restaurant is a landmark for its capacity of preserving traditions and the family-style. Its prices are absolutely low, every meal is great value deal.
