The Codmothers - Plymouth

I have visited this restaurant multiple times and have never been let down. The food is always freshly prepared to order and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly.

We ordered 12 pieces of cod, 4 fish cakes, and 3 portions of chips at this restaurant. All of our food was cooked right in front of us. The fish was fresh, as were the chips, and the service was excellent. Although there was a slight delay, we received an apology which we didn't mind since the food was being cooked fresh. The chips were delicious with no greasy residue, and the fish was cooked perfectly with crispy batter and flaky, non-greasy meat. Overall, we had a wonderful meal and were very satisfied. Thank you.

The chips were absolutely disgusting! They looked like they had been sitting in the warmer for days - burnt, hard, and crispy. On the other hand, the fish was great. I called the restaurant to complain, but all they said was "sorry, they're not usually like that." That's not good enough. I will never order from here again.

We have eaten here before with no issues but tonight the fish was grey and lumpy, the chips pale and greasy and the burger and bun very basic. My husband had to add his own onion and tomato at home. We were offered our money back or fresh food but, honestly, going nowhere nearthe place again.

Went to the Codmother this evening for fish and chips and sausage and chips with mushy peas and curry sauce. All freshly cooked whilst we waited. I have to say probably the best chippy meal we’ve had in a long time and superb value for money. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be going back.
