Asiana - Playa del Carmen

The sushi is amazing. The entrees are large and there is a good variety to chose from. The waiters are top notch and cater to your tastes.

Possibly one of the worst Asian meals I’ve eaten. Would have been my worst meal hadn’t it been for the service. The grilled chicken skewers in green curry sauce : there was no green curry sauce! Yellow curry: There was no curry! See photos

We enjoyed this place so much that we came back more than once during our stay in Playa del Carmen. Our waiter, not sure of the spelling, Raunaldo, was amazing! He seemed to anticipate our needs and was just the best. The food and atmosphere were also top notch. The spring rolls with the spicy strawberry flavored sauce were the best!

I usually start an oriental dinner with miso soup, green tea and a Japanese beer while I examine the menu. They had none of these. Not a good start. Scallop and tuna sashimi were good but not great. Grouper not as much. Rainbow roll was good. Shrimp appetizer was good but chicken on skewers was not up to par. The entrees were better, chicken teriyaki and curried shrimp were both very good. Not much heat in the curry but ingredients were very fresh and tasty. Sesame cake and tapioca pudding for dessert. The cake was a bit dry. Pudding was good. Very good service, nice atmosphere but nothing outstanding. The cost was very reasonable with a resident discount. We enjoyed the meal and had a nice evening. The location at the Hilton is safe and secure. The menu is a mixed bag of Thai and Japanese but could use the help of an experienced sushi chef.
