Bidrage med feedbackWhat a great find! A quick lunch stop brought me into Tortilla Flats. It was early and the restaurant was not busy yet. We were seated quickly by a very friendly gentleman. Warm chips with red and green salsa arrived post haste. Both salsas were delicious! They had an extensive lunch special menu with discounted pricing. I ordered the Baja Fish Tacos. They offered a choice of red or green rice. I tried the red. The tacos were huge! The perfectly fried rock cod was fabulous. And the sauce was portioned just right and delicious! Rice and beans did not disappoint either. I was told the rock cod was brought in fresh every day and never frozen. It certainly tasted like it! I don't get to Placerville often, but when I do, I'll be eating at Tortilla Flats again!
So we came in here after a weekend of wine tasting, wanted to go to more of a brunch spot, but they were packed and this was across the street. I'll start by saying that at first look on the menu nothing really stood out to me. Nothing sounded overly amazing. And I struggled to decide what to get. I ended up ordering the chicken enchiladas, and my boyfriend ordered chicken tortilla soup and 2 street tacos. We were first given some chips and salsa and water. I did like that we had a pitcher of water on the table, as the salsa was a bit more spicy then I anticipated. Darn good though. We also ordered a margarita and a beer. I wasn't too excited about the price of the margarita and it was smaller then I'd hoped. But it was a delicious margarita. Yum The meal came out, and to my surprise the flavor was amazing. The red enchilada sauce was delicious, and the chicken had an insane flavor. I had a spoonful of the tortilla soup and it was super delicious. It had chunks of avocado in it. My boyfriend was super stuffed after his 2 street tacos, and they were tiny, but super filling. Overall I'd have to say, don't let the menu deter you in any way (not sure if it would for other people but for us it didn't seem overly exciting) the food was so incredibly flavorful. I left Super stuffed, and with some seriously happy taste buds!
Insanely loud (poor) bar acoustics. But the happy hour margarita made it nearly worthwhile. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the bar area until they fix the acoustics or if you know sign language. Please fix that! We'll come back if so!!
Super yummy! Great staff! We came for dinner after spending the afternoon at Apple Hill. Tortilla Flatts has been a go-to for my husband since college, so whenever we're in the area (from Reno), we stop in. The plates were big enough for our kids to share 2 to a plate. The chips are absolutely lovely warm! Our eldest tried the queso fondito (something none of us had tried before), and he said it was delicious! Other favorites were enchiladas, burritos, roasted chile quesadillas, and happy hour taquitos. My husband said the margaritas were really good! We ended up sitting in the bar/ cantina area instead of the dining area so we could take advantage of the happy hour specials. It was kind of nice being in a location that was a bit livelier, especially with younger kids. Kind of drowned out their kid noise.
Traffic was terrible on the 50 so we pulled into town and found thus gem. I feel like My mother in law cooked this meal. She is from Michoacan and doesn't mess around with food. Incredibly fresh. Great portions and nothing out of a can. Jalapeño bacon poppers, Red Chile Verde, and asada street tacos. Wash it down with a Negro Modelo for a perfect lunch! Make this a stop on your way to or from Tahoe. You won't be disappointed. I'd like just a bit more energy in the environment. It's almost too quiet. Maybe open the big windows to the street. Then I'm really part of the town.
