We had a great time here. The deer stew and tordelli were excellent. The staff was so friendly and were chatting with us and playing with our daughter. They even gave us a desert on the house. It was not expensive at all.
Late October 2016. A windy, but sunny day. On the way to Lago Santo we decided to stop here for lunch first as I assumed all places at the lake would be closed [indeedy as we found out later]. Home-made pastas were good. For our main dish we tried the capriolo [deer]. Is was very good indeed and came in a bowl with a VERY tasty red sauce [the owner ran off the list of what was inside] plus tigella [bread]. Unfortunately, the size of the deer dish [for two] was too small; I could easily have eaten double of it myself!! We tried a local Cabernet Sauvignon [aged in oak] the owner [he took over in June 2016] suggested which was juicy [12 euro] and excellent. Our bill [for two persons] came to 67 euro [we also had a fruit tart and caffee] and had the eat and drink [berries with cognac] was on the house. As pointed out in other reviews, there is no written menu [but the owner speaks very good English, so one can find out what 's on offer if your Italian is not up to it] and yes, we did get a receipt [not giving a receipt is still rather common in Italy but it is a dangerous practice which may put an end to your establisment]. PS In winter months, make sure the place is open [334-7979098] before driving up the mountain!
I used to attend this restaurant in the past is that I must recognize that it is no longer the same, alas! I found higher prices than the average, reduced portions, little variety of dishes and limited courtesy staff. cherry on the cake, I find it exaggerated to pay 2 euros per head for the covered, for tablecloths and paper towels, without even a slice of bread.
All very good, excellent stew of wild boar, roast, cutlery with porcini mushrooms and tigellata! was the day of August then normal waiting to have the table, but once seated the service was great and fast.
