The On The Knoll - Picton

I want to start my review by saying that T-Rev and his kitchen staff did a great job considering the circumstances. Our server, Roxanne, handled the situation perfectly. However, whoever booked 3 reservations all for 6pm should be fired. A table of 20, a table of 13, and a table of 17, with one server missing, added to the challenges the staff faced. Our table, made up of former service industry workers, was understanding and patient during the 2-hour wait for our food. Despite some mix-ups with dishes, the food was good. T-Rev, the head chef I presume, came out to apologize for the wait, and Roxanne maintained her composure admirably. We were given a generous 20% discount on our bill. The building itself has not changed in 25 years, with shingles that look like they were put on back then. The property is a shadow of its former self. Despite these issues, kudos to the staff, who had our sympathy as more regular tables kept arriving to join the crowd. In terms of kid-friendliness, the beach nearby was a great distraction for hungry children while we waited for our meals.

The restaurant has a beautiful view and offers excellent food and service. However, we were disappointed to discover that the well water served at dinner was high in nitrates. The warning signage was not easily visible upon entry, as it was on the front door which was open when we arrived. It was only moved to be visible after we inquired about it. I mistakenly assumed that the sign in the washroom was only for that water. After asking our server, we learned that the water served to us was indeed the same well water mentioned in the warning sign. The restaurant should be more transparent about the water they serve, especially considering the potential harm it can cause to young children and pregnant women. It is important for management to inform customers about the high nitrates and associated risks before offering tap water, as minimal signage that may be obstructed by a door is not enough.

My wife and I had an absolutely wonderful dinner here this evening. Haven't been in 4 or 5 years at least.Donna (our server) was fantastic and made us feel very welcome and comfortable.We will be back soon!The fish tacos are amazing btw.Cheers!R&K

Beautiful lakefront views here! Delicious, fresh Pickerel with crispy skin is my absolute favourite dish (when available . Also the seafood linguini! You must try this restaurant and enjoy the patio in the summer :

We enjoyed a hot day on the patio( which is a MUST)! My garden salad was huge! Packed with lots of veggies, fresh and tasty with chicken breast. My husband ordered pulled pork flat bread, very generous servings. Our waitress went out of her way today. She was extremely thoughtful and anticipated our needs. The building needs some roof repairs but the view of the sand Dunes and water are all you need to look at. Our waitress said business has been slow since covid, I hope they can continue to provide quality food and maintain a business in this economic climate. We hope to return. Hopefully more people will support this restaurant.
