Lochmara Lodge - Picton

Wow cannot recommend this place enough, we loved taking our family for the day and did so much! Dolphins were interacting with us on the boat out there, we fed the eels, kunekune pigs and chickens. Visited the glass bottom boat reef project, fed the stingray. Spent time at the touch tank holding star fish etc. Played on the beach, kayaked in the sheltered bay had a lovely lunch and more. The team are fab and so knowledgeable thanks especially to siobhan who took us around we will be back!

I am a solo traveler and stayed in a twin room for five nights. The room was immaculate and thoroughly serviced daily. Housekeeping promptly accommodated my request for a different blend of tea in the room and made sure I knew how to use the more than adequate heating as I am from a tropical environment. The grounds are well kept and there are plenty of interesting things to do, from the incredible underwater reef observatory to feeding the various animals. Also in abundance are educational placards featuring flora and fauna. Dining is by way of the onsite restaurant cafe and good food is available throughout the day. For the first time in what seems like eons, I actually enjoyed a steak cooked exactly to my liking! The water taxi to and from the lodge was fast and comfortable and the staff could not have been more helpful. Thanks to everyone at unique Lochmara. I will be back, soon!

Amazing place! And very friendly staff. We just went for the day and absolutely loved all of it. The kids had a great time exploring and looking at the animals. Especially feeding time was good fun! Hammock heaven was definitely our highlight and we've been relaxing there for a couple of hours. The view is just incredible! Highly recommend this place! Can't wait to go back Thanks so much!

Fabulous! We had the friendliest of welcomes swiftly followed by a delicious dinner. I desperately needed a good massage after the 33km trek of the Queen Charlotte track and it was far better than good. The rooms were great and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. One of my best experiences! Thanks everyone at Lochmara Lodge!!
