It's still one of my favourite restaurants and the quality of food is just as good now as it was back then. I haven't had a chance to get to Zeera during the pandemic and I have missed it terribly so tonight I hopped onto Uber Eats and placed an order! I opted for some oldies but goodies and a couple of dishes I hadn't tried before. The bread basket is definitely a must have. All of their naan is delicious and I can never choose just one kind. Why not get an assortment? The other staple I ordered was Aloo Gobi. Perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked, as always. The dishes I hadn't tried before at Zeera were their chicken biryani and paneer korma. Both dishes were incredible and I will definitely order them again. I've had saag paneer countless times but I've never heard of paneer korma. I love korma so how could I go wrong? A definite winner! (I made my own Raita though. When you compare price to serving sizes, it's one of the more expensive restaurants I go to but when I'm in the mood for Indian cuisine, Zeera is my go-to!
A great spot for Indian food in Pickering! They have a very extensive vegetarian menu selection. A lot of popular dishes have a vegetarian twist instead. I love the sauce form the butter chicken and wanted exactly that but without the meat. Enter the paneer makhani! I was able to call in an order ahead of time and pick it up at the restaurant. The interior of the restaurant was kind of blocked off by a few tables. Our order was brought out to us and payment was made via a remote terminal. You do have to push a few buttons and insert your card so I'd recommend having your hand sanitizer handy. The food was packaged well. The saucier dishes were in foil containers that had lids that were foil lined. Nothing leaked on the trip home. The garlic naan was a huge hit with the family. First, they were huge! They had a great texture where they weren't just bread they had some pull to it. Very garlicky. There was a lot of paneer in the dish and the sauce was a rich, creamy tomato, with the perfect amount of spice.
A small mom and pop Indian restaurant run by people of Nepalese origin. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the bread was very thick and that included butter naan and lachha parantha. The appetizers and entrees were good though.
Got really excited to find a lunch buffet nearby, and after seeing it was only offered Thursday and Friday I was even more excited (I was looking for Friday). I called to confirm the hours and the young woman who answered said no, it 's Thursday and Wednesday now, which was disappointing and confusing since it contradicted both yelp and their own website. So I called again on Friday when they opened, and an older woman said it was absolutely on very confusing. So we jumped in the car to enjoy the buffet for $11.50 (no discount rate for kids, apparently I asked). Place was pretty quiet with 3 other tables. Weather was good so we sat outside on the patio, but made trips inside to load our plates. Service was pretty good (bringing water, clearing plates, and bringing hot out of the oven naan). Selection was also pretty good: 3 types of chicken (pakora, tandoori and butter), some kind of beef stew (beef in an Indian place is strange), and several vegetable options. Good variety and the food was decent too, but I was amazed to judge the butter chicken my least favorite (the sauce was weird almost a little too sweet), because usually this is a favorite of mine. There 's not much you can buy in Toronto for lunch these days for under $12, especially not AYCE, so I 'm pretty happy to have stumbled across Zeera and hope to come again.
Ordered the channa (vegetarian dish). This was good. Wasn't crazy about the long pieces of garlic to garnish. Ordered the rasmalai for dessert. It was absolutely horrible. Tasted like it just came out of a box and the actual cheese was gummy.
